I'm seeing great airfare sales to Asia for only about $500 round-trip on Google Flights (that's including all fees and taxes). I have tons of AmEx MR points, but it doesn't seem to make sense to jump through all kinds of hoops to get MR points transferred to Delta miles and then redeeming them for award flights instead of just paying cash and then redeeming MR points elsewhere (gift cards? statement credit?). Am I missing something?
