Via Running With Miles, Southwest is having another fare sale for travel through May 2018!  Tickets start at just $29, or 990 points, one way!

Most routes are more expensive, but there are plenty of good deals out there.  For example, a one-way flight from Washington, DC, to West Palm Beach costs just $98, or 5,612 Southwest points.

With Southwest’s latest sale, you can book cheap domestic flights into Spring 2018!  But valid dates vary depending on the route.

For example, I found one-way flights from Fort Lauderdale to Washington, DC, for $69 (or 3,669 points), to Cancun for $99 (or 3,024 points), and to Belize for $69 (or 2,880 points).

You must purchase tickets by September 28, 2017, by 11:59 pm at the origin city.  Here’s what you need to know:

  • Domestic travel is valid between October 17, 2017, and May 23, 2018
  • Travel between San Juan, Puerto Rico is valid between October 17 and December 7, 2017, as well as January 16 and March 1, 2018
  • International travel is valid between October 17 and December 13, 2017, as well as January 9 and March 1, 2018
  • Domestic travel NOT valid on Fridays and Sundays
  • Tickets are non-refundable

You can check the sale’s landing page for blackout dates.  There may also be sales outside of these advertised dates.  So it’s always worth a look to see if the flight you want is on sale!

Southwest sales are good news even if you’ve already booked your flights!  That’s because when the cash price of a ticket goes downaward ticket prices go down.  If you’re flights are cheaper with this sale, you can cancel for free and re-book it with the lower price.

I checked the price for my ticket SFO-SJD and it was still just over 7000. Change planes in LA still in effect. Hmmm... checked priced for each leg separately, totalling just over 4000. Cancelled, rebooked, leaving plenty of time between flights to pick up luggage & check it again as these are now 2 separate reservations and recovered about 3000 points! Southwest is the Best!

Not really - this is SW, not everybody else!
