Planning a road trip this fall? Here’s a fun and cheap opportunity!
Pick-up locations include cities like New York, Boston, Washington, DC, and more. And drop-offs are allowed at various airports in Florida, including Miami, Orlando, and Jacksonville.
Qualifying rentals must be picked-up by December 10, 2017.
I’ll show you how to take advantage of this deal!
Cheap One-Way Car Rentals
In order to move their inventory down south for the winter, car rental companies often publish deals for one-way rentals during the fall. And Hertz, Dollar, and Thrifty are currently offering one-way rentals for just ~$5 per day (excluding taxes and fees)!
The deal is good for rentals of up to 14 days. And economy to full-size cars are available. But the car must be picked-up by December 10, 2017.
Qualifying dates for the promotion depend on your pick-up spot, all of which are airport locations.
Pick-ups are allowed starting September 4, 2017, from:
Pick-ups are allowed starting October 10, 2017, from:
- Burlington, Vermont
- Portland, Maine
- New York City (JFK, EWR, LGA, HPN)
- Washington, DC
Pick-ups are allowed starting October 23, 2017, from:
- Raleigh / Durham
And rentals can be dropped off at the following airports:
- Fort Lauderdale
- Fort Myers
- Palm Beach
- Sarasota / Bradenton
There’s no specific end date to this promotion. So if you’re interested, I’d suggest booking sooner rather than later!
Is This a Good Deal?
Is sure is! Especially if you’d already planned to take a road trip to Florida some time later this year. Keep in mind you’ll have to find a way home.
Plus, valid dates include Thanksgiving week. So this could be a great option for visiting friends or family for the holidays for less.
Because apart from paying for gas (Prius, anyone?) and the cheap daily rental rate, you could take an inexpensive road trip!
For example, I found a one-way, full-size rental with Dollar from Charlotte to Orlando for ~$35 per week (excluding taxes and fees), or ~$5 per day.
So if you live in or near one of the participating cities, you could plan a road trip over the long Columbus Day holiday weekend. Or drive to Orlando to visit Mickey over Halloween!
There’s even the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival, which runs through November 13, 2017. 😉

And don’t forget to use a card that comes with primary rental car insurance, like the Chase Sapphire Preferred or Chase Sapphire Reserve.
Qualifying pick-up dates vary by city, but include airport locations like New York (JFK), Boston, Charlotte, and more!
To qualify for the lower rates, rentals must be picked-up no later than December 10, 2017.
Valid drop-off spots include various airports in Florida like Orlando, Miami, and Jacksonville! So it’s a great time to plan a fall or winter getaway.
