Do you collect and use IHG points?  Here’s a chance to buy them for less!

Through September 12, 2017, you can get up to an 80% bonus on purchased IHG points.  The more points you buy, the bigger the bonus.  But the actual bonus amounts are targeted.

Buy IHG Points With a Bonus

Link:   IHG Buy Points Promotion

With the latest buy points promotion from IHG, you can get up to an 80% bonus on purchased points through September 12, 2017.  The actual amount of the bonus depends on how many points you buy.  So sign-in to your IHG loyalty account to see your personalized offer!

You must purchase points in 1,000-point increments, and there’s a limit of 60,000 purchased IHG points per calendar year.

IHG normally sells points for 1.15 to 1.35 cents each.  Or if you’re comfortable with it, you can buy points for as little as 0.6 cents each with the IHG Points & Cash trick.

With this promotion, depending on how many points you buy, you can pay as little as ~0.6 cents a piece.

Note:   You must purchase a minimum of 5,000 IHG points to earn a bonus.

Is This a Good Deal?

This is worthwhile if you need a few more IHG points to top-off your account for an award stay.  And it could save you lots if you would have booked at paid stay at normally expensive IHG hotels.

But as always, do the math to make sure you’re getting the best deal.

For example, a night at the InterContinental Amstel Amsterdam can easily cost $500+or 50,000 IHG points.

You Could Save Hundreds of Dollars Off a Stay at the Intercontinental Amstel Amsterdam. A 5-Star Hotel Overlooking the Amstel River!

With an 80% bonus, you could buy 100,800 IHG points for $644, enough for a 2-night stay!  And you’d save ~$356 off the cost of a 2-night paid stay ($1,000 cost of 2 paid nights – $644 cost of points for 2 award nights).

Or use fewer points and save big with IHG PointBreaks hotels, where you can get rooms for ~$29 per night if you purchase points with this deal.

Million Mile Secrets team member Meghan was targeted for the full 80% bonus on purchases of 20,000+ points.  If she bought 20,000 IHG points for $250, with a 16,000 points bonus, she’d pay ~0.7 cents per point.

That’s cheaper than the regular price of IHG points.  But the IHG Points & Cash trick would still be a better deal!

An easy way to earn IHG points is to sign-up for the Chase IHG card.  It currently comes with a sign-up bonus of 80,000 IHG points after you spend $1,000 on purchases in the first 3 months of account opening.

Plus, it’s one of the few cards NOT restricted by Chase’s application rules.

You can also consider the current IHG Accelerate promotion, where you earn bonus points for completing different tasks, like staying at multiple brands, or booking a weekend stay.

Bottom Line

For a limited time, you can buy IHG points with up to an 80% bonus, on up to a maximum of 60,000 purchased points per year.  So sign-in to your account to see your personalized offer.

The promotion lasts through September 12, 2017.  And could be good deal for folks who need to top-off their account for an award.  Or for really expensive hotels with available award rooms!

But as always, I suggest doing the math to make sure you’re getting the best deal!

I too am offered 100% bonus on 20k or more points (0.575 cents per point). Are these points flippable to Aeroplan under their current promotion (transferring hotel points to Aeroplan with a 35% bonus)?

From my experience, IHG is getting more stingy with reward nights. I tried to book award night throughout Italy this Spring and there were almost no award nights available. In addition, I recently went to Salt Lake City and once again, there was not one award night at ANY IHG hotel within a 50 miles radius. Earning points is easy…it is using them that is becoming a huge problem.

I just logged-in and I have a 100% bonus on purchases over 20,000 points. How about that!
