Do you like collecting and using IHG points?  Here’s a chance to buy them for cheap!

Via Reddit, some folks can get up to a 100% bonus when you buy 5,000+ IHG points through July 12, 2017.

This could save you even more than the Points & Cash trick!

Here’s more about this deal.  And how to check to see if you’ve been targeted!

Buy IHG Points With a Bonus

Link:   IHG Purchase Points Promotion

Through July 12, 2017, you can earn up to a 100% bonus on purchased IHG points.  So sign-in to your IHG loyalty account to see if you qualify!

Points must be purchased in 1,000-point increments, and there’s a limit of 60,000 purchased IHG points per calendar year.

IHG normally sells points for 1.15 to 1.35 cents each.  Or if you’re comfortable with it, you can buy points for as little as 0.6 cents each with the IHG Points & Cash trick.

But with this promotion, depending on how many points you buy, you can pay even less.

Note:   You must purchase a minimum of 5,000 IHG points to earn the bonus.

Million Mile Secrets team member Jasmin was targeted for the full 100% bonus.  If she purchased 30,000 IHG points for $345, with a 30,000 points bonus, she’d pay just 0.575 cents each ($345 / 60,000 points)!

Is This a Good Deal?

This is worthwhile if you need a few more IHG points to top-off your account for an award stay.  And it could save you lots if you would have booked at paid stay at normally expensive IHG hotels.  Especially if you’ve been targeted for a 100% bonus!

But as always, I suggest doing the math to make sure you’re getting the best deal.

For example, a night at the InterContinental Paris – Le Grand can easily cost $400+or 40,000 IHG points.

If You Were Targeted for the Maximum Bonus, You Could Save Hundreds of Dollars at Otherwise Expensive Hotels, Like the InterContinental Paris – Le Grand

With a 100% bonus, you could buy 80,000 IHG points for $460, enough for a 2-night stay!  And you’d save ~$340 off the cost of a 2-night paid stay (~$800 cost of 2 paid nights – $460 cost of purchased points).

Or, you could use fewer points and potentially save even more with IHG PointBreaks hotels.  Because you can get rooms for ~$29 per night if you purchase points with a 100% bonus.

An easy way to earn IHG points is to sign-up for the Chase IHG card.  It currently comes with a sign-up bonus of 60,000 IHG points after you spend $1,000 on purchases in the first 3 months of account opening.  Plus a $50 statement credit after your first purchase.

Plus, it’s one of the few cards NOT restricted by Chase’s application rules.

We don’t earn a commission for this offer, but we’ll always tell you about the best deals.

You can also consider the current IHG Accelerate promotion, where you earn bonus points for completing different tasks, like staying at multiple brands, or booking a weekend stay.

Bottom Line

Through July 12, 2017, folks who have been targeted can buy 5,000+ IHG points and earn up to a 100% bonus, up to a maximum of 60,000 purchased points per year.

This can be a good deal for folks who need to top-off their account for an award.  Or for really expensive hotels with available award rooms!  Especially if you’ve been targeted for the maximum 100% bonus.

You reference your 2016 article about no Chase 5/24 rule? Is that still true today?

I’m offered the 120,000 with 120,000 bonus. Chris, the points are sold through points.com so you should use your best credit card for everyday spend.

I’m targeted as well. Does anyone know whether you get bonus points if you buy with your Chase IHG card?

I am targeted, can buy 60K (+60K bonus) points for $690. Seems like a great deal – but I don’t have any plans to use it in near term.

In my drop down it looks like I could buy 120K points and get an added 120K points fro $1380…I’ve never been able to buy more than 60K points before.
