Let’s take a look at 5 ideas for earning 7,500 bonus Chase Ultimate Rewards points.

Through June 30, 2017, you can earn 5X Chase Ultimate Rewards points (5% cash back) when you use your Chase Freedom card at grocery and drug stores on up to $1,500 in combined spending.

If you spend the $1,500 maximum in bonus categories, you’ll earn 7,500 Chase Ultimate Rewards points ($75).

But purchases at discount stores like Walmart and Target will NOT count.  And you must activate your card by June 14, 2017, to qualify.

Chase Freedom is my favorite no annual fee card.  Because you can earn lots of Chase Ultimate Rewards points on things you buy anyway.

And when you have the Chase Sapphire ReserveSapphire Preferred, Ink Business Preferred, Ink Bold (no longer available), or the Ink Plus (no longer available), you can use your Chase Ultimate Rewards points for Big Travel with transfer partners like United Airlines and Hyatt!

Check out these 5 ways to earn more bonus Chase Ultimate Rewards points with your Freedom card this quarter.

1.   Stock Your Freezer

Most folks spend a lot of money at the grocery store anyway, so you might not have to go out of our way to earn extra Chase Ultimate Rewards points.  But you could use your Chase Freedom to buy freezer-friendly foods in advance.

Things like frozen pizzas, frozen fruits and vegetables, bread, and meat, can be kept in the freezer for a couple of weeks.  So you could stock up on items you frequently eat.

2.   Buy Food (or Gifts!) for an Event

Throwing a big gathering, like an office or birthday party?  Or maybe you’re planning a graduation celebration this graduation season?

Whatever the reason, use your Chase Freedom card at your favorite grocery store to buy the food!  Lots of grocery stores sell party platters, cakes, and more.  You might even find flowers, gifts, and balloons there too – almost everything you’d need for a great get-together.

3.  Buy Unexpected Items at the Drugstore

Drugstores sell more than just medicine.  Oftentimes, you can find things like school or office supplies, cosmetics, kids toys, and more.

Buy what you can at drugstores instead of from a department store or office supply store, where you’ll only earn 1X Chase Ultimate Rewards point per $1.  Because the more Chase Ultimate Rewards points you earn, the closer you’ll be to your next adventure. 😉

4.   Add Authorized Users

You’ll get the 5% bonus every time an authorized user pays with their card at a participating merchant.  And because you can add up to 5 authorized users to your Chase Freedom card, they can help you make the most of this quarter’s bonus categories!

Just remember to only add someone you completely trust.  They will be linked to your primary account, and ultimately YOU are responsible for any charges that they make.  So be sure to only add someone you know will pay you back for the money they spend!

Remember, You’ll Be Responsible for Any Charges an Authorized User Makes to Your Account. So Only Add Someone You Trust!

Note:   If you add someone as an authorized user on your card, they can still sign-up for their own card later on to earn their own sign-up bonus.  But it will likely count against their Chase “5/24” status.

5.   Pay for Others With Your Card

If your friends or family members plan to purchase something in one of Chase Freedom’s bonus categories, offer to cover the bill.  Especially if they’re paying with cash or a debit card.

Technology like PayPal and Venmo make it easy for folks to immediately reimburse you for the purchases you make.

What Can You Do With 7,500 Chase Ultimate Rewards Points?

7,500 Chase Ultimate Rewards points are worth:

Your Grocery Shopping Could Help You Relax on the Beach at the Grand Hyatt Kauai

Note:  The Chase Freedom is NOT a good card to use overseas because there’s a 3% foreign transaction fee.  You should instead use cards that do NOT charge foreign transaction fees, like the Chase Sapphire Preferred or Chase Ink Preferred.

Bottom Line

Register your Chase Freedom card by June 14, 2017, to earn 5X Chase Ultimate Rewards points on up to $1,500 in combined purchases at grocery and drugstores through June 30, 2017.

It’s great when grocery stores are included in the quarterly bonus categories, because most folks are already spending money there!

But you could also buy unexpected items, like office supplies, at the drugstore.  Or use your Freedom card to buy food for a big gathering, like a birthday or graduation party.

Plus, when you have the Chase Freedom and other Chase Ultimate Rewards earning cards like the Sapphire Preferred or Ink Preferred, you can transfer your Chase Ultimate Rewards points for Big Travel.

Kristy please explain in details about bumping from 2 points/$ to 5 points/$ with sapphire (is this reserve card)? and where and how did you book first classs flights?

Thanks in advance

She's saying that with Sapphire you earn 2x points on airfare, but if you buy the airline gift cards at a grocery store with the Chase Freedom card you will earn 5x points since grocery is this quarter's Chase Freedom bonus category.

Suggestion on the proper way to request that military commissaries (grocery stores only) be coded as grocery stores on the Freedom card?

We recently bought $800 in Delta gift cards at the grocery store using our Freedom card. That bumped us from the 2 points/$ with the Sapphire to 5 points/$. We used the GCs to book first class flights to/from JFK to catch our connector for Korean Air RT to Japan for our honeymoon. We will recycle the 4,000 points towards a Hyatt night once we are there. Maxing out both my and my fiancee's Freedom bonuses went a long way towards earning the 160k points we each needed for Japan... also in first class. List value on those KA flights is $39k.
