Folks are being targeted in-branch for a higher sign-up bonus with the Chase Freedom Unlimited!

You’ll earn 30,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points after you spend $500 within the first 3 months of opening your account.  That’s the highest offer I’ve ever seen for this card – and DOUBLE the offer that’s publicly available!

With the targeted offer, you’ll also get:

  • 2,500 Chase Ultimate Rewards bonus points ($25) when you add an authorized user and make a purchase in the first 3 months of opening your account
  • 1.5X Chase Ultimate Rewards points (1.5% cash back) per $1 you spend on all purchases with NO limit (hence, the “Unlimited”)
  • No annual fee

Here’s why you should consider this card.

1.  Solid Sign-Up Bonus

30,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points is an incredible deal for a no-annual-fee credit card.  So check your branch (or your email and snail mail) for this offer! 30,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points are worth $300 in cash back, and even more in travel if you transfer your points to the: Chase Ultimate Rewards points are worth 1.5 cents each toward paid travel with the Chase Sapphire Reserve.  And 1.25 cents each with the others.

Plus, you can transfer your points to valuable travel partners, like United Airlines and Hyatt!

30,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points is enough for a one-way Business Class ticket from the US to the Caribbean when you transfer your points to United Airlines!  That could be a ~$1,000 value, depending on where you’re flying from.

2.   No Annual Fee

Because this card has no annual fee, you can keep it forever!

Everyone should have a no-annual-fee credit card.  Because 15% of your credit score is determined by your length of credit history.  So it helps to have a credit card with no annual fee which you keep for a very long time, because it helps increase the average age of your credit accounts.

This Offer Isn’t for Everyone

Whether you’re targeted for this offer or not, there are questions you should ask yourself before applying for this card.

1.   Are You Over the Chase “5/24 Rule”?

Chase has very strict application rules for some of their credit cards.

If you’ve opened 5 or more credit card accounts (from any bank) in the past 24 months, it’s VERY UNLIKELY Chase will approve you for their Chase Ultimate Rewards earning cards, like the Chase Freedom Unlimited or Chase Sapphire Preferred.

That said, if you’re pre-approved for this offer, you may still be eligible even if you’ve opened lots of cards in the past 2 years.

2.   Are You Pre-Approved for Better Chase Cards?

The newest targeted offer for the Chase Freedom Unlimited is a great deal.  But there are still other cards that will get you Bigger Travel.  If the Chase “5/24 rule” applies to you, it’s worth checking if you’re pre-approved for better cards before you apply for the Chase Freedom Unlimited.

The Chase Sapphire Reserve Comes With Priority Pass Airport Lounge Access. The Chase Freedom Unlimited Does NOT

The Chase Sapphire Preferred, Chase Sapphire Reserve, and Chase Ink Business Preferred all offer better sign-up bonuses (and better travel benefits!) than the Chase Freedom Unlimited.  Check your branch, the Chase website, the CardMatch tool, and your mail for pre-approved offers for these cards.

Bottom Line

There’s a new targeted offer for the Chase Freedom Unlimited!  But it’s only available in-branch.

Reddit reports an increased 30,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points offer after spending $500 on purchases in the first 3 months of account opening.  That’s twice the publicly available offer.  So check with your branch to see if you’re pre-approved.

If you’re new to miles and points, this isn’t the best card to start with.  There are lots of other Chase cards with higher sign-up bonuses, like my top card for beginners, the Chase Sapphire Preferred.

And let me know if you get the better offer!
