Know someone who’s thinking about applying for a small business credit card?  I have good news!

If you have an AMEX small business card, like the business version of the AMEX Starwood Preferred Guest or the SimplyCash Plus Business card, you might be able to earn bonus points when they use AMEX Refer a Friend and they’re approved for the card.

Earn Bonus Points for Referring Your Friends to AMEX

Link:   American Express Small Business Card Refer a Friend Program

Did you know you can earn bonus miles & points by referring a friend who applies and is approved for an AMEX small business card?

If you already have a business card from American Express, log-in here to see if you’re eligible for their refer a friend program.

American Express small business cards include:

All of these cards earn AMEX Membership Rewards points, except for the AMEX Starwood Preferred Guest small business card, which earns Starwood points.

Million Mile Secrets team member Harlan has the AMEX Starwood Preferred Guest small business card, and was offered 5,000 Starwood points (up to 55,000 points maximum) for each friend who applies and is approved for that card.

5,000 Starwood points may not seem like a lot, but if you referred a few friends, your bonus points could really add up!

Check out my post about why 5,000 extra Starwood points is a big deal.

With this offer, Harlan’s friends could also earn 25,000 Starwood points after completing the card’s minimum spending requirements.

That’s a good deal for everyone, but there have been higher referral bonuses in the past.  Like earlier this year, when AMEX was offering folks 10,000 Starwood points for each referral approved for the card.

And the sign-up bonus has been as high as 35,000 Starwood points before, too.

So it’s important to remember, because American Express only allows folks to get the sign-up bonus ONCE per person, per lifetime on ALL their cards, it might be worth waiting for a higher sign-up bonus.

What Can You Do With Starwood Points?

Read my series on the best ways to use Starwood points!

Starwood points are valuable because they’re fairly hard to earn.  And you can use them for things like:

AMEX Refer A Friend
Use Your Starwood Points to Stay at the Westin Walt Disney World Swan, and Take a Swim Under the Pool’s Waterfall!

And if you transfer them to partner airlines with a 1:1 transfer ratio, you’ll get a 5,000 mile bonus for every 20,000 points you transfer.

What Can You Do With AMEX Membership Rewards Points?

The other small business cards from American Express earn AMEX Membership Rewards points.

If you can earn bonus AMEX Membership Rewards points, that’s a good deal too.

American Express Membership Rewards points are one of the most flexible types of points.  Because you can transfer them to certain airlines for Big Travel with Small Money to places like Europe and India!

Check out my handy chart to help you know which points transfer to which airline.

Don’t Forget!

AMEX small business cards do NOT appear on your personal credit report.  So they won’t affect your chances of being approved for Chase cards you might want.

Bottom Line About AMEX Refer a Friend

If you have a friend (or loved one!) who’s considering an AMEX small business card, and you already have the card, make sure to send them a referral link if you can.  Because then you can both earn bonus points!  🙂

Log-in here to see if you qualify for a referral bonus.

The number of bonus points you’ll earn depends on which small business card you’re referring.  And AMEX will sometimes offer higher than normal referral bonuses.  So keep an eye on your email!

Have you ever gotten a referral bonus for a card?  Let me know in the comments!
