Via One Mile at a Time, the sign-up bonus on the Citi Prestige will change on July 19, 2016 (next Tuesday).  But we don’t know if the bonus will increase or decrease.

Right now, you’ll earn 50,000 Citi ThankYou points with this card when you complete the minimum spending.

Should You Get the Citi Prestige Card Before the Sign-Up Bonus Changes? I’ll Help You Decide!

Let’s review the perks of this card and whether it’s a good idea to sign-up before the change takes effect!

What’s the Deal?

On July 19, 2016, the sign-up bonus for the Citi Prestige will change.  But we don’t know if it will be a better (or worse!) offer.

Currently, the Citi Prestige has an excellent sign-up bonus of 50,000 Citi ThankYou points after you spend $3,000 on purchases in the first 3 months of opening your account.  That’s worth $800 toward flights on American Airlines or its codeshare partners for international travel.

Along with other terrific perks, you’ll also get the 4th night free on paid hotel stays when you book through the Citi Travel Concierge.  That’s one of the best deals in travel!

You can read my full review of the Citi Prestige card here.

If, as some folks have suggested, the sign-up bonus decreases, you’ll be in good shape if you apply for the Citi Prestige now.

But the bonus could increase, though it’s never been higher than 50,000 ThankYou points.

If you apply now and the bonus does go up, you could always try calling Citi to be matched to the improved bonus.  But there are no guarantees!

Do you plan on applying before the sign-up bonus changes?

Dear MMS:

In one of your blogs you talked about using British Airways Avios points instead of American Airlines miles for Hawaii, it is confusing as hell with AA/BA/Alaska mix. In an example to travel from TPA to DEN, I find out the trip info on AA, I then go to BA to find cost of a one-way reward flight, all it says is below, so how do I know whether it is AA or Alaska or any other partnered Airlines?

Avios 10000 + $5.60 taxes, fees and carrier charges

please note that I did click on "Check availability on this route", and found nothing available.

Thanks for your time.

@Nick - I'd be happy to answer your question! Let me know and I'll see if I can help. 🙂

I had a question but this blog seems to no longer answer questions?? Just repost stuff from other blogs.
