Airport lounges are great spots to unwind, enjoy a free drink or snack, or get work done away from the commotion of the airport.  But it usually comes at a price.

Now, The Points Guy reports a targeted offer for the Chase United MileagePlus Club card with the $450 annual fee waived for the 1st year.  The card includes full United Club Membership, which normally costs $550 a year if you don’t have elite status.

This could be a terrific deal for folks who fly United Airlines frequently.  Or if your home airport has a United Club lounge!

Emily and I don’t earn a commission from this card, but we’ll always tell you about the best deals!

Find Out If You’re Targeted for This Card Offer. You’ll Get a Year of United Club Lounges With NO Annual Fee!

I’ll explain how to find out if you’re targeted!

What’s the Deal?

I don’t often write about the Chase United Club card, because it doesn’t have a sign-up bonus.  But some folks like it because with the card, you get full United Club lounge membership at a cheaper rate than United Airlines charges!

The annual fee on this card is usually $450.  But some folks have been targeted for an offer with the annual fee WAIVED for the 1st year!

To find out if you’re targeted for the offer, enter your United Airlines account number and password on this page.

With United Club membership, you can access 45+ United Club lounges worldwide, plus certain Star Alliance partner lounges.  And at United Club lounges, you can bring 2 adult guests (or 1 adult and dependent children) with you for free.

With this card, you’ll also get:

The regular offer for this card includes a $100 statement credit after your 1st purchase.  But I’d rather have the annual fee waived for the 1st year!

Who Should Consider This Offer?

For folks who frequently travel to airports with United Club lounges, the waived annual fee offer might be a no-brainer – if you’re targeted!

But keep in mind, there is NO sign-up bonus.  So if you’d rather earn miles and points for Big Travel, you might consider other cards which offer lots of miles & points when you meet the minimum spending requirements.

If you already have a card which gets you access to airport lounges, like the Platinum Card From American Express, Citi Prestige Card, or Citi / AAdvantage Executive World Elite Mastercard, this deal might not be as appealing.

A More Civilized Airport Experience – and You Could Get It for Free for a Year

This is a particularly good deal if you collect United Airlines miles, because you’ll earn 2 United Airlines miles per $1 you spend on United Airlines, and 1.5 United Airlines miles per $1 you spend on everything else.

And you could save big on checked bag fees if you pay for your United Airlines tickets with your card, because it’s free to check your 1st and 2nd bag!  That’s worth $60 each way on a domestic flight!

This is a very good deal!  You’ll pay nothing in the 1st year and you’ll have the opportunity to check out United Club lounges to see if you like them (and the other card perks!).  Once you’ve had the card for ~10 months, you can decide whether you want to keep it for another year and pay the annual fee.

Bottom Line

Some folks are being targeted for an offer on the Chase United Club card with the $450 annual fee waived for the 1st year.

This is a great deal because the card comes with full United Club lounge membership (worth up to $550).  That gets you into United Club (and certain Star Alliance partner) lounges for free – which means a quiet spot to relax, grab a cocktail or snack, or snooze before your flight!

The regular offer for this card includes a $100 statement credit after your 1st purchase.  But keep in mind, there is NO sign-up bonus.

So if you prefer earning lots of miles & points for Big Travel quickly, you might want to consider other cards.

We don’t earn a commission for the Chase United Club card.  But Emily and I always share the best offers with our readers!

Do you get the free bags if you have cancelled the card after paying for the tickets with the card?

I have a card expiring soon where I got fee waived already and plan to cancel. I logged in to UA Site and the offer is there. Am I eligible again?

I found my answer!! The offer expires March 15 🙂

Thanks for the info! And it looks like I've been targeted....do you know how long the offer lasts? Do I have to apply right now or do I have time? I just got 2 new credit cards early Nov.
