When traveling to a major city, many folks don’t like renting a car.  Due to the hectic traffic navigating unfamiliar roads gets tricky!

Public transportation is a great option and via The Points Guy, when you pay with your Chase Freedom® card next quarter, you can earn bonus points or cash back towards your next trip!

Once you activate the bonus (you can activate beginning December 15, 2015), you’ll earn 5X Chase Ultimate Rewards points at gas stations and on commuter transportation (on up to $1,500 in spending) from January 1, 2016, to March 31, 2016.

When you sign-up for the Chase Freedom card and spend $500 on purchases within the 1st 3 months of opening your account, you’ll earn 15,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points.

Other perks include:

  • 2,500 Chase Ultimate Rewards bonus points ($25) when you add an authorized user who makes a purchase in the 1st 3 months of opening your account
  • NO annual fee

This is my favorite NO annual fee card because you can earn 5X Chase Ultimate Rewards points (5% cash back) on up to $1,500 in spending in rotating categories each quarter.  You must activate the bonus between December 15, 2015, and March 14, 2016.

Next quarter, from January 1, 2016, to March 31, 2016, you can earn the bonus points on gas and commuter transportation.  This is an easy way to earn 5X Chase Ultimate Rewards points if you have plans to travel to a big city in early next year.

has anyone figuered out a hack to get 5x on tolls? This would help much

Does anybody know if the 5x would apply to tolls too?

Not sure for Chase, but can verify it does for Capital One. They have a good offer every now and then.

Do we know if Uber will count as commuter transportation for Chase?
