Until tomorrow, October 16, 2015, at 11:59 pm Eastern Time, you can book British Airways flights between certain US cities and London for just $2,015 round-trip (or cheaper) in Business Class.

There’s a Saturday night stay requirement, and some cities have blackout dates.

You can make this deal much sweeter by stacking it with the British Airways AARP discount and using British Airways Avios points for part of the fare.  But there’s a way to earn your points back!

I was able to get the ticket price as low as ~$446!

Business Class to the UK on British Airways Normally Costs Thousands of Dollars! But You Can Do It for ~$446!

Note:  For this deal to work, you’ll need 30,000 British Airways Avios points.  Fortunately, there are lots of ways to get them!

Here’s how to do it.

1.   Join AARP

If you don’t already have an AARP membership, it’s easy to join.  You don’t have to be over 50, and the yearly fee is $16.

Anyone at Any Age Can Join AARP for $16 per Year, and You’ll Get Access to Lots of Discounts

You’ll get your membership number immediately.

By joining AARP, you’ll get a $400 discount on round-trip British Airways Business Class flights.

Read my post about how the British Airways AARP discount works!

2.   Book Your Flights Through the AARP British Airways Site

To get the discount, book your flights through the AARP British Airways link.  You’ll be prompted to enter your AARP account number and password.

You’ll be re-directed to the British Airways booking page.  Search for your flights as you normally would, and the discount will be automatically applied to your search results.

You’ll See the AARP Discount Applied to the Fare When You Search

Note:   Some American Airlines code-share flights are included in the sale!

In this example, I searched for flights between New York and London in December 2015.  With the AARP discount, a round-trip Business Class ticket costs ~$1,210.

~$1,210 Between New York and London Is Sweet, but It Gets Better!

To compare, the regular sale fare (without the AARP discount) for this flight is ~$1,610.

I’d Rather Save $400 With the AARP Discount!

3.   Log-In to Your British Airways Account

Below the final price, you’ll see an option to sign-in to your British Airways account.  And to save money on the booking by using British Airways Avios points!

British Airways allows members to partially pay for flights using British Airways Avios points.  And they’re running a promotion where your points are worth 2.5 times as much.

This British Airways Avios points promotion is only valid for flights from:

  • Chicago
  • Dallas
  • Houston
  • New York (JFK and EWR)
  • Las Vegas
  • Los Angeles
  • Philadelphia
  • San Francisco and
  • Washington, DC.

Sign-In to Your British Airways Account, and Select $764 off for 30,000 British Airways Avios Points

The total price for the ticket is now 30,000 British Airways Avios points plus ~$446.  But you’ll earn 10,374 British Airways Avios points, so your net points cost is only 19,626 British Airways Avios points (30,000 points spent – 10,374 points earned for flight).

Hot British Airways Business Class To London 446
You’ll Get This Fare for a Net Cost of ~20,000 British Airways Avios Points and ~$446

That’s an incredible deal!

Note:  You can NOT stack the 10% off you’d normally earn by having the Chase British Airways Visa Signature Card if you partially pay with British Airways Avios points.

However, it’s a good option for folks in cities not included in the British Airways part payment promotion.

The Deal Gets Even Better!

Frequent Miler reports this deal should stack with British Airways transatlantic bonus promotion.  You can earn 25,000 bonus British Airways Avios points for a round-trip Business Class flight (up to 125,000 points total) until January 31, 2016.  But you have to register.

Hot British Airways Business Class To London 446
Don’t Forget to Register for British Airways’ Transatlantic Bonus Promotion – You’ll Earn Your British Airways Avios Points Back!

That will more than off-set the number of British Airways Avios points you spent on the ticket!

Or, you could credit these flights to American Airlines.  There’s a similar promotion to earn 25,000 American Airlines miles per transatlantic flight until the same date.  But you can’t earn both British Airways Avios points and American Airlines miles.

Remember, you’ll also earn British Airways Avios points or American Airlines miles for these flights based on the distance flown, and which program you credit the flights to.  So if you’re on the West Coast, you’ll earn even more!

For example, round-trip Business Class flights from Los Angeles to London are about the same price.  But you’ll earn 16,326 British Airways Avios points!

You’ll Earn More British Airways Avios Points From West Coast Cities Like Los Angeles

Note:   Folks with British Airways elite status earn even more British Airways Avios points.  You can see what you’ll earn using the British Airways earning calculator.

This deal is a no-brainer if you’re planning travel to the UK!  And a terrific opportunity to fly British Airways Business Class, which many avoid on award flights because of the high taxes and fees.

This promotion is great. And it works for flights beyond London. I just booked two multi-city Business Class (Club World) flights for my wife and myself. We're flying from Chicago through London to Copenhagen. Our return will be from Stockholm through London returning to Chicago. We were already planning this trip. AARP & Avios: what a great combo! Many thanks, Daraius, for bringing this to our attention!

If I am trying to book 3 tickets, do I need to try and book them as separate accounts in order for the points that you earn back to offset the cost? Basically would it be better to transfer 30k Avios to Traveler 1, 2 & 3 or is it better to transfer 90k Avios to just one person and book all 3 tickets that way?

Wow, I have enough starwood points to facilitate this but I see the transfer time is a few days. I woulda love to have done this! Does anyone know if I purchase the ticket today, can I apply the points discount in a couple days??

This deal is killing me! We've got a non-refundable one-way in coach from Dublin to LAX over the holidays for $550 thought that was a steal! Almost tempted to take the loss to be able to fly business class for the 10+ hour flight.

I don't have any British Airways Avios points. I see that there are ways to get them, but are there ways to get them TODAY? Otherwise it doesn't look like I can take advantage of this. Any advice? Thanks!
