Daily Getaways is a promotion sponsored by the US Travel Association offering discounts on hotels like HiltonAlamo car rental certificates, and attractions like Universal Studios Hollywood.

Here’s today’s deal.

Link:   Save $25 on Alamo Car Rentals

With today’s deal you can buy a $50 Alamo car rental gift certificate for $25.

You’ll pay $25 for the certificate, which can be used towards any Alamo car rental at participating locations in the US.  And you can buy a maximum of 3 certificates, and use them on 1 rental.  But you have to call Alamo at 866-626-9102 when using more than 1 certificate.

However, you have to pay taxes, surcharges, and other fees separately.  So you should use them on rentals with a base price of $50 or more.

The deal goes live today at 1:00 pm Eastern Time so have the site loaded on your browser and be ready.  This will sell out quickly because there are only 2,000 Alamo car rental certificates available.

Is This a Good Deal?

If you have an upcoming Alamo rental, saving $25 off could be a good deal.

But you have to book with Alamo.  So you can’t use the certificates on cheap rentals booked through sites like Hotwire.

For example, you’d pay ~$92 to rent a compact car in Miami on June 26, 2015, from the Alamo website.  If you used the $50 Daily Getaways certificate, your net cost would be ~$67 (~$92 rental cost – $50 gift certificate + $25 cost of certificate).

A Miami 1-Day Alamo Rental Costs ~$92

In this example, you’d save money by booking through Hotwire instead.

While you can NOT use the Daily Deals Alamo car rental certificate, with Hotwire, you’d only pay ~$40 booking and you’d get a midsize car.

A Bigger Car for Less Money on Hotwire Than Booking With Alamo!

So you should compare prices before buying these certificates.  Because you might save more money booking through discount sites like Hotwire or using AutoSlash.

Bottom Line

At 1:00 pm Eastern Time, you can buy up to three $50 Alamo car rental gift certificate for $25 through Daily Getaways.

You can use the certificate at participating US Alamo locations by booking with Alamo (online or phone).  But you can NOT book through discount sites like Hotwire.

And if you’re redeeming more than 1 certificate (you can use up to 3 on 1 rental) you have to call Alamo at 866-626-9102.

You might save more money booking through other sites.  But do a search to see which deal works out better for you.

I think tomorrow’s deal is a lot more exciting!

I have booked many rentals in the past two years via Costco, and then later added the certificate to the rental the day or two before I pick up the car. Worked every time.

Sounds like one of those "gotchya" deals where they give you a discounted certificate, but you have to book with a jacked up rate. can you use this with whatever rate shows up on Alamo's site, or is it strictly what their phone number rate is?

You can't use it when booking through Costco either. You have to use the discount codes listed on the certificate. And who knows what those rates will be.

I checked an upcoming rental I had through Costco. My full size was $156. When I went Alamo without codes it was $171. So in this case this is a better deal for me but if it takes 5 days to get the code the price could end up changing on me and it NOT be a good deal. So not sure if I want to grab one or not!!
