You can earn miles with the following airlines:

Check the list of hotels that are NOT participating to find out if your stay will qualify.

Make Sure Your Earning Style Matches Your Selection!
Link: Change Your Earning Style (Log-in Required)
If your earning style matches your selection you’ll earn more points! And if your earning style isn’t Points & Miles when you choose Double Miles, you will NOT earn any miles!
To change your earning style, log-in to your Hilton account and go to “Edit Preferences”.
Should You Choose Double Hilton Points or Double Airline Miles?
How Many Points You’ll Earn
At most Hilton hotels you get 10 Hilton base points, plus 5 bonus points when your earning style (log-in required) is set to Points & Points, per $1 spent on your room . So if you pick double Hilton points you’ll get 25 Hilton points (20 Hilton base points + 5 bonus points) for every $1 you spend.
But if you plan on staying at a Home2 Suites, keep in mind that you will earn fewer points. You’ll get just 5 base points per $1 spent, plus 2.5 bonus points when your earning style (log-in required) is set to Points & Points.
So you’ll earn and 12.5 Hilton points at Home2 Suites (10 Hilton base points + 2.5 bonus points) per $1 spent during the promotion.
Remember, the AMEX Hilton Surpass and Citi Hilton Reserve are the best cards to use for paid Hilton stays. When you pay with 1 of these cards you’ll earn an additional 10X to 12X Hilton points per $1 spent!
How Many Miles You’ll Earn
However, you only earn 10 Hilton points (5 Hilton points at Home2 Suites) and 1 airline mile (if your earning style is set to Points & Miles) per $1 spent. And when you select double airline miles you’ll only earn 2 airline miles for every $1 you spend.
Note: You will NOT earn any bonus miles, if your earning style isn’t set to Points & Miles!
I’d rather earn 10 extra Hilton points per $1 spent than 1 extra airline mile per $1 spent. But do what works best for you!
Is This a Good Deal?
This is a good bonus for folks who already have plans to stay at a Hilton hotel. On a $200 stay at the Doubletree Resort & Spa in North Miami Beach, you’d earn 5,000 Hilton points (25X Hilton points with Points & Points earning style X $200). That’s enough for 1 free night in a category 1 Hilton hotel.
Or if you choose Double Miles and have Points & Miles as your earning style you’d earn 2,000 Hilton points (10 Hilton points X $200) and 400 airline miles (2X miles X $200).
But I wouldn’t go out of my way to take advantage of this offer. Because there are plenty of other ways to earn lots of Hilton points. And if you will be staying for 2 or more nights you might do better with other current hotel promotions such as:
- 15,000 points for 2-night stays, 30,000 points for stays of 3 nights or more with Club Carlson (an even better deal if you have the Club Carlson Premier Rewards card, because you get your last night free on award stays of 2 nights or more)
- Up to 65,000 Hyatt points when you stay 25 or more nights (depending on your personalized offer)
- Double points at Starwood hotels on stays of 2 or more nights
You can earn double points or double miles on Hilton hotel stays from March 1, 2015, to May 31, 2015. Make your choice carefully because you won’t be able to change it. Earn the most from this promotion by making sure your earning style matches your selection!
Double Hilton points is the better value. But do what makes the most sense for your travel plans!
This is a good deal for folks who already have plans to stay at a Hilton hotel. But I wouldn’t stay at a Hilton just to earn the bonus points. Especially because there are so many other ways to earn lots of Hilton points.
That said, it only takes a few minutes to sign-up. So it’s a idea to register, that way you’ll earn the bonus points if you happen to stay at a Hilton!
