Opened an account in December. Statement closed in January, wanted the points to get the 40% bonus. The person on chat suggested I pay the full amount due on the statement and call. did just that" the first CSR a lady, refused saying bonus MRs can be expedited and I need to wait 6 weeks.

Then called again in the evening and no questions asked the points were posted right away and I was also able to transfer to BA.

NEVER works on phone even with Membership Rewards number. Never works in chat with CSR. ALWAYS works when you go to chat and ask for a Membership Rewards person to be put on chat with you. Weird but several of us have been there, done that, recently in the FT thread on this.

Weird, I had no idea that this was an issue. I have never had it take more than 3 or 4 days after I met the spend to get bonus MR points. It is pretty crazy how long you have to wait for regular points, but bonus points have always posted faster than any other issuer for me

To me the lengthy lag in posting of points, not just the signup bonus, is a drawback in the MR program in general. I opened an account in early November and made the minimum spend the same month. When no points posted in December or January, I called. I noted that I had wanted to take advantage of the 40% bonus offer to transfer to Avios (a deal ending Jan. 31), and that I thought February was too long to wait for points earned in November. The phone agent actually put the points in my account on the spot. But still on a month to month basis, MR points post in a drawn out process that would certainly not be necessary.

UR points from Chase are available the moment the statement of any given month closes, and that's the way it should be.

I just opened up a JetBlue credit card and once my statement closed and I paid the bill it listed the amount of TrueBlue points available but they weren't in my TrueBlue account. I then clicked on the link and was able to link it to my account. Shortly after the points posted. It appears that part of the reason it takes time to post is there must be some process that links up with the airline account.
