This is a very good deal!  That’s because you can use British Airways Avios points on partner airlines like American Airlines, US Airways and Alaska Airlines.

The normal transfer ratio is 1:1.  But you have to transfer American Express Membership Rewards points in 1,000 point increments.

So with the 40% bonus, when you transfer 1,000 American Express Membership Rewards points you get 1,400 British Airways Avios points.
