Via Michael W Travels, you can earn as many as 2,000 United Airlines miles through their MileagePlus Shopping portal promotion and up to 1,000 Delta Airlines miles with their SkyMiles Shopping portal sale.

With both deals, your purchases must be made by August 31, 2014.

You Can Collect up to 2,000 Bonus Miles With United Airlines When Shopping at Their Online Mall

I’ll tell you about the details of these back-to-school shopping promotions!

United Airlines: Earn 500 to 2,000 Miles

Link:   MileagePlus Back-to-School Shopping Promo

You earn 500 United Airlines miles for every $125 you spend at stores in the MileagePlus online mall, up to a maximum of 2,000 miles for spending $500.

So if you spend

  • $125 you get 500 United Airlines miles
  • $250 you get 1,000 United Airlines miles
  • $375 you get 1,500 United Airlines miles
  • $500 you get 2,000 United Airlines miles

This is in addition to the number of United Airlines miles you usually get for shopping.

For example, shopping at Macy’s through United Airline’s MileagePlus portal currently gives you 4 United Airlines miles per $1.

So if you spent $500 at Macy’s, you’d earn 2,000 United Airlines miles (4 United Airlines miles X $500 spent at Macy’s) plus another 2,000 United Airlines miles for spending $500 with this promotion.

That’s a total of 4,000 United Airlines miles for spending $500.

But you don’t have to spend the $500 in 1 store.  You could split the $500 between Macy’s, Toys R Us, the Apple Store, 1-800-Contacts, etc.

This back-to-school deal runs through August 31, 2014.

Delta Airlines: Earn 250 to 1,000 Miles

Link:   SkyMiles Back-to-School Shopping promo

With Delta’s back-to-school sale, you earn 250 bonus miles for every $150 you spend at their SkyMiles Shopping portal, up to 1,000 Delta Airlines miles for spending $600.

So when you spend

  • $150 you get 250 Delta Airlines miles
  • $300 you get 500 Delta Airlines miles
  • $450 you get 750 Delta Airlines miles
  • $600 you get 1,000 Delta Airlines miles

Again, this is in addition to the miles you usually get for shopping.

For example, at Delta’s SkyMiles Shopping mall, you currently get 6 Delta Airlines mile per $1 spent at Petco.

So if you spent $600 on pet supplies you’d get 3,600 Delta Airlines miles (6 Delta Airlines miles X $600 spent at Petco) plus another 1,000 Delta Airlines miles for spending $600 during this promotion.

That’s a total of 4,600 Delta Airlines miles for spending $600.

You Can Add 1,000 Bonus Delta Airlines Miles When You Shop During Their Back-to-School Promotion

Just like with United Airline’s promotion, you don’t have to spend the $600 in 1 store.  You can spread it out at various retailers such as Neiman Marcus, JCPenney, HP, etc.

Delta’s back-to-school sale also ends on August 31, 2014.

What You Should Know About Both Deals

For both the United Airlines and Delta Airlines promotions, shipping costs, taxes, and returned items do NOT count.  And FTD.com is not a part of Delta’s deal.

It could take 8 to 10 weeks for the miles to be credited to your account.

Also check evreward.com to be sure you’re getting the best deal at each store.

I would NOT go shopping online with this deal just to get the bonus miles.  But if you’d be spending money at these stores anyway, either now or in the near future, it could be a good deal for you!

I can’t be the only 1 who goes Christmas shopping in July! 😉

Bottom Line

You can get as many as 2,000 United Airlines miles and 1,000 Delta Airlines miles as a bonus through their back-to-school shopping sales.  The deals end August 31, 2014.
