According to the Financial Express in India, Air France has invited “Air-India for talks to join the global alliance, SkyTeam.”
Air India, as we know, was unable to integrate itself into the Star Alliance after 3.5 years, and was for all practical purposes booted from the alliance.
What remains unsaid – and what I’m hoping for – is that the Jet Airways will join the Star Alliance, since the other major private Indian Airline, Kingfisher Airlines is a member elect of the oneworld alliance.
Why does this matter (if you don’t collect Delta SkyMiles)? Because Jet Airways flights to India will open up more redemption options for travel in Asia, and I’d rather travel on Jet Airways or Kingfisher than on Air India.
