Update: Readers have written that this code 6661 is the promo to get 75K miles for new accounts.  It is not for authorized users.

Million Mile Secret reader Shari (Thanks, Shari!) wrote in the comments on earning 50,000 MR points by adding an authorized user:

When I called about this, I got a really nice agent who said that she knew of a better promo for my Amex Gold Card – code 6661. Code 6661 allows me to add up to 5 additional cardholders to my card. Each additional cardholder that spends $1000 within 92 days of getting the card will net me 75,000 Membership Rewards apiece . The agent also said that when the card is received, I can call in and have this card linked to MY Membership Rewards acct (ie. not the cardholders’ MR acct.) Annual Fee is waived for the 1st year for up to 5 additional cardholders.

I haven’t tried this, but thought I’d share, because the sooner you jump in on these promos the more likely you are to get the bonus miles.

Thanks again, Shari!

Hi Darius,

I'm still a bit unclear on this one. Does this mean that if my girlfriend has never had an AMEX card, I can get 75k for $1000 spend in three months and that the 6661 code can still be applied to her card to net her an additional 75k?

Million Mile Secrets

@Mike - http://www.onlinetravelreview.com/2011/08/19/yes-if-you-got-an-american-express-gold-premier-rewards-after-august-1st-code-6661-will-get-you-75000-miles/#comments" rel="nofollow">OTR has a post on this same topic. So does http://boardingarea.com/blogs/dealswelike/2011/08/14/potential-100000-american-express-point-bump/" rel="nofollow">Deals We Like. I've heard that it is getting harder to get AMEX to apply the codes, but it depends on how much risk you want to take. If you can't get the code applied you will end up with only 15K points.

Daraius, you're fantastic! Thank you!

Thanks sooo much for your great blogs, Darius!

off topic question...Is it poosible to apply for AMEX gold reward, AMEX platinum and AMEX SPG (Starwood Preferred Guest) all three at the same time? I have read most people applying for AMEX gold and platinum but not sure if we can apply for more than 2 cards in a month. Thanks!

Million Mile Secrets

@Lee - I've never applied for all 3 at the same time, so I don't know what the results would be. If you do decide to apply for 3 cards, apply for the card you want the most first. That way, if you are declined for the 3rd card, it wouldn't matter that much.

I don't have any AmEx cards. I just tried to call to apply for a PR Gold, but the rep told me she couldn't honor the code because they only accept RSVP numbers. Any ideas on how to apply to get the 75k?

So I assume that this WILL NOT work for my new Citi AAdvantage Amex? Only for Amex's Premium Rewards Cards?

I apologize if I am stating the obvious... still a rook...

Million Mile Secrets

@TexasFlyer - You're welcome. I love how everyone helps out on the blog. Thanks again, Chris!

@Rob - You're correct! This will only work on AMEX Gold PR cards.
