The 60,000 point offers on the Chase Ink end in a few days, but Chase has just increased the sign-up bonus on the Chase Freedom card!

The sign-up bonus for the Chase Freedom card has increased to 20,000 points or $200 cash back.  Normally, the bonus is 10,000 points or $100 cash back.  You’ll get the bonus after spending $500 in the 1st 3 months.  So this is a good deal!

You also get 2,500 extra points for adding an authorized user who makes a purchase in the first three months.

Chase has increased the sign-up bonus to 20,000 points before, most recently last November for a limited time.  But this is the best offer for this card I’ve seen this year!

Why I Like the Chase Freedom

The Chase Freedom is 1 of my favorite cards.  It’s a good card to keep for a long time (and possibly improve your credit score) because it has no annual fee.

Chase markets the Freedom as a cash back card but you can transfer the Chase Ultimate Rewards points you earn with it to certain airlines and hotels IF you have the Chase Sapphire Preferred, Chase Ink Bold, or Chase Ink Plus.

And every quarter, there are different bonus categories in which you can earn 5 points per $1 you spend to a maximum of $1,500 per quarter.  So you can earn an additional 30,000 Ultimate Rewards points per year ($300 cash back) by spending the maximum in bonus categories each quarter.

For this quarter (until June 30 2014), the bonus spending categories are restaurants and Lowe’s home improvement stores.

Some folks like to get cash back with their Chase Freedom points, but I prefer transferring them to airlines and hotels by transferring them 1st to the Chase Sapphire Preferred, Chase Ink Bold, or Chase Ink Plus card.

Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to transfer Ultimate Rewards points from the Chase Freedom to airlines and hotels!  You can’t move points directly from the Chase Freedom to airlines and hotels – you can only do this if you have the Chase Sapphire Preferred, Chase Ink Bold, or Chase Ink Plus.

And you have lots of hotel and airline transfer partners to choose from, including Chase Ultimate Rewards newest transfer partner, Singapore Airlines.

Bottom Line

Chase has increased the sign-up bonus on the Chase Freedom card to 20,000 Ultimate Rewards points after you spend $500 in the 1st 3 months.  Usually, the sign-up bonus is 10,000 points, so this is a very good deal!

The Chase website says this is a limited-time offer.  I’m not exactly sure how long it will last.
