4 Ways to Fly to Europe Using Fewer Points or Less Cash!

Million Mile Secrets reader, Matt, tweeted:

What are the cheapest cities to fly to in Western Europe?

Great question, Matt!

The best deals can be different depending if you’re redeeming miles & points or booking paid airfare.

For example, one great option to Europe is using British Airways Avios points for flights to Dublin, Dusseldorf, or Berlin.

Or for inexpensive paid airfare, you can consider flights on low-cost airlines like Norwegian Air and WOW Air to destinations like Iceland, London, Oslo, Stockholm, and Copenhagen.

A great part about flying to Europe cheaply is you can travel around to other destinations using budget airlines like RyanAir or via Europe’s extensive rail network.

Do You Get Travel Insurance With the AMEX Platinum Card?

Million Mile Secrets reader, Dave, commented:

Does The Platinum Card® from American Express have travel insurance coverage?

Unlike some other travel cards, which have excellent travel protection benefits, the AMEX Platinum does NOT provide coverage for mishaps like trip delays or cancellations.

But you do get insurance for lost baggage and travel accidents when you pay for airfare with your AMEX Platinum card.  Keep in mind, this coverage does NOT apply to award tickets.

Some folks don’t mind giving up travel protection benefits to earn 5X points on airfare, especially if you have travel insurance with a third-party company.

Family Fun in New York City Using Southwest Points

Lyn writes about flying on Southwest for her blog and has flown her family all over the US almost entirely free on Southwest.  I’ve asked her to share how families can visit New York City on the cheap, from flights to activities to accommodations.

Lyn:  New York City is one of my favorite places.  I love the buzz and energy of the city where there is literally always something going on, and it seems everyone is going somewhere important!

I’ve been visiting the Big Apple since I was in high school as a dancer and my love of the city lives on.  🙂

Last summer, we took our boys to the city for the first time and enjoyed a completely different experience, traveling as a family.
