You Can Still Buy Vanilla Visa Gift Cards at CVS

Don’t forget to follow me on Facebook or Twitter!

Update:  You can no longer load a Vanilla Visa to your Bluebird.

Million Miles Secrets reader Joe commented:

Can you still use a credit card for the Vanilla Visas at CVS, or are you buying these somewhere else?

Joe is referring to Vanilla Visa gift cards, NOT Vanilla Reloads.  CVS recently changed their policy to no longer allow you to purchase Vanilla Reloads with a credit card.

How to Load Bluebird With Gift Cards at Walmart

Update:  You can no longer load a Vanilla Visa to your Bluebird.

Update: There are new ways to load Vanilla Visa gift cards to Bluebird at Walmart!

How Do You Load Vanilla Visa Gift Cards Now?

Are you 1 of the folks wondering how to use gift cards to load your Bluebird account at Walmart now that you can’t buy Vanilla Reloads with a credit card at CVS anymore?

How To Load Bluebird With Gift Cards At Walmart

You Can’t Buy Vanilla Reloads With a Credit Card at CVS Anymore…but You
Can Still Use Gift Cards to Load Your Bluebird!

Many of us were loading Bluebird with Vanilla Reloads, but that’s no longer possible.  But you can buy PIN-enabled gift cards with a credit card to earn miles and points instead.  And then load these gift cards onto Bluebird, but you have to go to Walmart in person.  Then you can use Bluebird to pay bills you can’t normally pay with a credit card.

And don’t forget that you can also use Evolve Money to pay certain bills online with a gift card with a PIN without having to go to Wal-Mart.

If you’re new to this, I’ll show you how!

Use Evolve Money to Pay Your Utilities, Student Loans, & More With a Credit Card

Update:   You can no longer load a Vanilla Visa to your Bluebird.

Update:   Evolve Money has shut down its service.

Many of us have been using American Express Bluebird to pay bills that can’t be paid with a credit card, like rent, mortgage, car loans, student loans, and utilities.

That’s because we want to get miles & points for our expenses.  And also to complete the minimum spending needed to get a sign-up bonus on a credit card.

Because CVS stopped allowing Vanilla Reload purchases with a credit card, folks are turning to buying PIN-enabled gift cards (i.e. Visa and MasterCard gift cards) with a credit card to fund their Bluebird accounts.  Gift cards with PINs can be loaded onto Bluebird at Walmart.  But it’s become more inconvenient with the extra step of going to Walmart several times a month to load your Bluebird.

But did you know there’s another way to use gift cards to pay bills?  Evolve Money lets you pay bills online with a Visa or MasterCard debit or gift card (NOT American Express gift cards) – no trips to Walmart needed!  And you can buy a Visa or MasterCard gift card at CVS, drug stores, grocery stores etc.

You’re Running Out of Time for the Suntrust Debit Card

Delta Points wrote that soon may no longer be able to get the SunTrust Delta Skymiles Debit Card.

And today, View From the Wing, writes that the SunTrust debit card is no longer available on the Suntrust website!  But there still might be a way to get the card.  This is the best card to pay your taxes with because you pay only ~$3 for up to $35,000 in tax payments which earn ~35,000 Delta miles!

SunTrust Delta Debit Card: Are Its Days Numbered?

The card is being phased out quickly, but you still may be able to get one by calling Suntrust at 877-809-5248 for a personal debit card or 888-454-0611 for a business debit card.  But hurry if you want one!

CVS Vanilla Reload Update: ALL Stores Going Cash Only By April 4, 2014

Update:  You can no longer load a Vanilla Visa to your Bluebird.

Thanks to all the Million Mile Secrets readers who commented with their experiences buying Vanilla Reloads with a credit card at CVS.

Over the weekend, news came out that CVS would stop accepting credit cards as payment for Vanilla Reloads as of March 31, 2014.  But many folks reported still being able to use their credit cards after that date!

Via Million Mile Secrets reader Lydia, there’s a new memo stating that the cash-only policy will start systemwide at CVS by April 4, 2014.

Update:  You can no longer load a Vanilla Visa to your Bluebird.

Via Points Miles and Martinis, you might not be able to buy Vanilla Reloads with a credit card at CVS after March 31, 2014.

Some CVS stores don’t accept credit cards for Vanilla Reloads, but this looks like a new policy which is applicable at ALL CVS stores.  We all knew that this day was coming!

Vanilla Reloads Available at (Some) Seven-Eleven Stores!

Don’t forget to follow me on  Facebook or Twitter!

Update:  You can NO longer buy Vanilla Reload cards with a credit card at 7-11.

FlyTheory emailed me to let me know that certain Seven-Eleven stores will let you buy Vanilla Reloads with a credit card.  This could be useful for folks (New Yorkers!) who don’t have access to Office Depot or CVS stores.

A Vanilla Reload card is one of the ways to load your American Express Bluebird with money so that you can use it to pay bills.

Bluebird Bill Pay

Say Hello to Vanilla Reloads at Seven-Eleven

One of the best uses of American Express Bluebird is the ability to pay for transactions which can’t usually be made with a miles or points earning credit card.  Transactions such as your rent, mortgage, car payment, credit card bill, tuition etc. can be paid with your Bluebird card (i.e  indirectly with a credit card).
