Airport Lounge Perks Compared: Chase Sapphire Reserve, AMEX Platinum, Citi Prestige

Wondering what’s the best card for airport lounges?

Spending time in airport lounges can save you money and make your airport experience more enjoyable.  Because many lounges have free Wi-Fi, snacks, drinks (including alcohol), and comfortable seats to relax.

To access lounges you typically need elite status with an airline or a Business Class or First Class ticket.  Some lounges give you access if you purchase a day pass.

But with any AMEX Platinum (personal card, business card, or Mercedes-Benz card), the Citi Prestige, or Chase Sapphire Reserve, you can enter 900+ lounges throughout the world for free with Priority Pass Select.

Can You Transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards Points to a Spouse?

Million Mile Secrets reader, Soosie, commented:

Can you please tell me if it is possible to transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points directly (not to airline/hotel program) from spouse to spouse?  Thanks!

Great question, Soosie!

It is possible to directly transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points to your spouse.  This is great news for folks who want to combine points to book award travel.

But Chase has different rules for transfers depending if you have a personal or small business card.

When Can You Transfer the Freedom Unlimited Sign-Up Bonus to Chase Travel Partners?

Million Mile Secrets reader, Prabha, sent an question via email:

With the Chase Freedom Unlimited card, when can I transfer the sign-up bonus of 15,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points to airline partners like United Airlines instead of redeeming for $150 cash back?

Great question, Prabha!

Earning transferable points like Chase Ultimate Rewards points is the trick to travel flexibility!  And often times, you can get more value for your points by transferring to airline and hotel partners instead of redeeming for cash back.

But to transfer Chase points to travel partners from no annual fee cards like the Freedom or Freedom Unlimited, you’ll need to have another eligible Chase card, like the Chase Sapphire Preferred.

Otherwise, the points you earn with the Freedom Unlimited can only be redeemed for 1 cent each for cash back or towards travel.

Transferable Chase Ultimate Rewards Points

The Sign-Up Bonus With the Freedom Unlimited Can Be Worth More When You Have a 2nd Chase Ultimate Rewards Card! For Example, You Can Get a Free Night at the Hyatt Centric Santa Barbara Hotel, Which Can Cost $200+!

I’ll explain when Chase Ultimate Rewards points can be transferred to airline and hotels partners for Big Travel!

5 Excellent No Annual Fee Cash Back Cards

Million Mile Secrets reader, Lindsay, tweeted:

I have a Chase Sapphire Preferred card, but would like to get a new card to earn cash back.  Do you have any recommendations?

Many folks like to pair their miles and points rewards cards with a cash back alternative.  Because it’s easy to redeem cash back rewards.  And it’s always nice to have a little extra cash in hand.

Although miles and points can be worth more depending on the award, the benefit of cash back rewards is they won’t fluctuate in value.  So you’ll always know what you’re earning!
