Can You Earn a 2nd AMEX Sign-Up Bonus When You Apply for a New Business?

Million Mile Secrets reader, Danielle, commented:

I opened the Starwood Preferred Guest® Business Credit Card from American Express in the past using my Social Security number.  I recently started a new business and have an EIN number.  Can I open another AMEX Starwood small business card using my EIN to earn another sign-up bonus?

Great question, Danielle!

With the AMEX once per card, per lifetime rule, it’s very unlikely you’ll earn the sign-up bonus again by applying with a new Employer Identification Number (EIN).

Because you must also include your Social Security number on a small business credit card application.  So AMEX can see if you’ve earned the sign-up bonus before.

Ken and Emily:   There are a few ways to save on hotels at Disneyland and Walt Disney World, like booking with points or using Citi’s 4th night free.  But what about getting a truly free night?

There are hotel credit cards that offer a free hotel night each year, and some of them can be used for free nights near Disney parks!

Don’t Let Your Hotel Card’s Free Anniversary Night Go to Waste!

Million Mile Secrets reader, W, commented:

Is there an expiration date for the free weekend anniversary night you get with the limited-time AMEX Hilton Honors Surpass offer?

The free weekend night you earn with the current Hilton Honors™ Surpass® Card from American Express offer must be redeemed for stays within 12 months after the date it’s issued.

This expiration policy is similar for other hotel cards with a free anniversary night, like the IHG® Rewards Club Select Credit Card and Chase Hyatt.

So to make the most of the free night benefit, it’s important to book a stay before it expires.  Otherwise, you’ll miss out on an opportunity to save money!

8 Reasons Why You Should Choose the AMEX Starwood Over the Chase Marriott Card

Update:   One or more card offers in this post are no longer available.  Check our Hot Deals for the latest offers.

If you’re looking to earn the most points for free stays at Marriott, Starwood, and Ritz-Carlton hotels, you’ll want to consider the limited time AMEX Starwood offer.  It’s the biggest bonus I’ve seen for the personal and small business cards!

Remember, Marriott, Ritz-Carlton, and Starwood are now one company.  But the hotel chains still have separate co-branded credit cards.  And the current sign-up bonuses for each of the hotel cards are very different!

For example, the current AMEX Starwood card sign-up bonus is a total of 35,000 Starwood points after meeting tiered minimum spending requirements.  This can get you 3 free nights at the Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort & Spa in Hawaii.  But the sign-up bonus with the Marriott Rewards® Premier Credit Card would only get you 2 free nights.

Can You Earn More Than One Sign-Up Bonus With the Same AMEX Business Card?

A Million Mile Secrets reader emailed:

I was recently approved for a 2nd Starwood Preferred Guest® Business Credit Card from American Express.  My 1st card is for a different business.  Am I eligible to earn the sign-up bonus twice?

It’s possible, but very unlikely you’ll earn multiple sign-up bonuses with the same AMEX small business card.  Even if you apply using separate Employer Identification Numbers (EINs).

The general rule is AMEX restricts personal and small business card sign-up bonuses to once, per person, per lifetime.

And I spoke with an AMEX representative who confirmed sign-up bonuses are intended for new applicants only.
