Can you book a Southwest flight through the Chase travel portal using Chase Ultimate Rewards points, and then add a companion if you have the Companion Pass?
Folks with the Companion Pass can add a companion to any Southwest flight. It doesn’t matter if it’s booked directly through the airline or a travel portal!
This is good news for folks with the Companion Pass looking to get Big Travel on Southwest with the Chase Sapphire Reserve. Because points linked to your Sapphire Reserve account are worth 1.5 cents each when you book travel through Chase.
Or those using the Pay With Points perk with the The Business Platinum® Card from American Express OPEN.

Both the Chase Ink Business Preferred and Ink Cash cards offer great perks and earn Chase Ultimate Rewards, my favorite kind of points.
But if you’re trying to decide which card is right for you, it isn’t as simple as comparing sign-up bonuses and annual fees!

Y’all know I don’t like in-store shopping!
It’s a lot of hassle, and I’ll do just about anything to avoid it. I’d rather shop online, where I can get bonus rewards from airline and hotel portals!
But for those of y’all that enjoy shopping in person, did you know you can also earn bonus rewards through online shopping portals?

Folks with small business credit cards have lots of ways to earn miles & points thanks to many terrific bonus spending categories.
This is especially helpful for folks who are impacted by tougher credit card application rules, which limits the opportunity to earn new card sign-up bonuses.
So spending a lot in bonus categories is the next best way to increase your points balances! And many bonus categories are common for small business owners, like advertising, office supplies, and shipping.
Spending for Your Small Business on Certain Credit Cards Is a Great Way to Earn Miles & Points, Especially in Bonus Categories!
Keep in mind, earning points with a small business takes time!

Million Mile Secrets reader, Prabha, sent an question via email:
With the Chase Freedom Unlimited card, when can I transfer the sign-up bonus of 15,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points to airline partners like United Airlines instead of redeeming for $150 cash back?
Great question, Prabha!
Earning transferable points like Chase Ultimate Rewards points is the trick to travel flexibility! And often times, you can get more value for your points by transferring to airline and hotel partners instead of redeeming for cash back.
But to transfer Chase points to travel partners from no annual fee cards like the Freedom or Freedom Unlimited, you’ll need to have another eligible Chase card, like the Chase Sapphire Preferred.
Otherwise, the points you earn with the Freedom Unlimited can only be redeemed for 1 cent each for cash back or towards travel.
The Sign-Up Bonus With the Freedom Unlimited Can Be Worth More When You Have a 2nd Chase Ultimate Rewards Card! For Example, You Can Get a Free Night at the Hyatt Centric Santa Barbara Hotel, Which Can Cost $200+!
I’ll explain when Chase Ultimate Rewards points can be transferred to airline and hotels partners for Big Travel!

I love transferring Chase Ultimate Rewards points to travel partners, like Flying Blue, Hyatt, and United Airlines. Because you’ll often get the most value for your points. But there are times when using the Chase portal is a better deal when you want a specific flight or hotel because your travel dates aren’t as flexible.
With the Chase Sapphire Reserve card, you’ll get a 50% bonus, or 1.5 cents per point, when you redeem points for travel through the Chase portal. For example, this makes 50,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points worth $750 in travel instead of the $500 you’d get for redeeming points for cash back.
The best part is you can transfer points to your Sapphire Reserve card from other Chase Ultimate Rewards points cards like the Chase Freedom or Chase Ink Cash. This means your existing points will increase in value!
Book an Air Berlin Flight Through the Chase Travel Portal. Because You Can’t Transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards Points Directly to Air Berlin.
Emily and I don’t earn a commission from the Chase Sapphire Reserve. But I want y’all to know how to get more for your Chase Ultimate Rewards points with this card!
