Considering a Disney Dream Cruise? Read This First!

Ken and his wife Emily write about using points and miles (and saving money) on Disney trips at Mousehacking.com.  So I’ve asked them to share their tips on taking a cruise aboard the Disney Dream!

Ken and Emily:   While many people think first of Disneyland or Walt Disney World when considering a Disney vacation, Disney Cruise Line is an excellent option as well.

Even if you’ve been on a cruise before, a Disney cruise is extra special.  We’ll be focusing on the Disney Dream, but Disney has 3 other ships, all among the best in the world.

Ken and his wife Emily write about using points and miles (and saving money) on Disney trips at Mousehacking.com.  So I’ve asked them to share their tips on earning the most miles and points on Disney vacations!

Ken and Emily:   While there are several ways to get free or cheap stays at Disney destinations, you might wind up having to pay for much or all of your stay out of pocket.

Even if you book your Disney hotel with points, you’ll still have things like meals and incidentals to pay for.  We have a list of 53 Ways to Save at Walt Disney World.  But it’s just as important to know how to earn the most cash or points back on the money you do spend.

Don’t Miss Out on These 5 Sign-Up Bonuses If You’re Close to the “5/24” Limit

Update:   One or more card offers in this post are no longer available.  Check our Hot Deals for the latest offers.

Million Mile Secrets reader, Myles, tweeted:

I’ve opened 4 new cards in the past 24 months.  If I get the Chase Amazon Prime card, will it count toward Chase’s “5/24” card limit and keep me from getting other Chase cards in the future?

Unless Myles gets certain small business cards, new cards from ANY bank will count toward Chase’s card limit.

Because Myles is just shy of reaching 5 new cards in the past 24 months, he’ll want to choose his next card wisely!

If you’re in a similar situation, the best choice for a 5th card depends on which cards you already have and your travel goals!

Update:   One or more card offers in this post are no longer available.  Check our Hot Deals for the latest offers.

Million Mile Secrets reader, Seth, emailed:

If my application is denied for the Chase Sapphire Reserve, will Chase still count it against their “5/24 rule“?

Seth wants to know if Chase’s stricter application rules include all credit card applications you’ve submitted, including the unsuccessful ones.

The answer is NO!  As long as you weren’t approved for a new card, it will NOT affect your chances of being approved for other Chase credit cards.

Chase offers terrific credit cards with great perks and benefits to use for Big Travel.  But tougher application rules have made it more difficult to get approved for many cards issued by Chase.

But certain Chase cards are NOT impacted by the stricter rules.  Like The Hyatt Credit Card, which gets you 2 free nights at any Hyatt after meeting minimum spending requirements.

Emily and I love to share secrets to help folks get Big Travel With Small Money.  So we’re very grateful when readers send us tips about their successes.

Million Mile Secrets reader Gerry sent us his experience applying for the Marriott Rewards Premier small business card.  Even with the stricter Chase card approval rules, he was approved, despite having more than 20 new credit cards in the past 24 months.

This is great news!  Because Chase has some of the best points and miles cards.  So finding an exception to the Chase approval rules might help other folks with card applications in the future!

Do Chase’s Stricter Approval Rules Now Apply to All of Their Cards?

Last year, Chase stopped approving many folks for some of their cards, like the Freedom and Sapphire Preferred, if they’d opened ~5 or more credit cards (from any bank) in the past 24 months.

Via Doctor of Credit and Reddit, these stricter rules now apply to more of their cards.
