Considering a Disney Dream Cruise? Read This First!

Ken and his wife Emily write about using points and miles (and saving money) on Disney trips at Mousehacking.com.  So I’ve asked them to share their tips on taking a cruise aboard the Disney Dream!

Ken and Emily:   While many people think first of Disneyland or Walt Disney World when considering a Disney vacation, Disney Cruise Line is an excellent option as well.

Even if you’ve been on a cruise before, a Disney cruise is extra special.  We’ll be focusing on the Disney Dream, but Disney has 3 other ships, all among the best in the world.

Review: Capital One Quicksilver & QuicksilverOne

If you’re looking for a card with a straightforward back structure, low to no annual fees, and no foreign transaction fees, the Capital One Quicksilver cards could be worth considering.

Both cards come with unlimited 1.5% cash back on every purchase.  But the right card for you depends on whether you’re trying to build or improve your credit, or if you already have a good score and an established credit history.

That said, these aren’t the best cards for folks new to miles & points.  I’ll explain why.

With Unlimited 1.5% Cash Back on Every Purchase, Your Savings Could Really Add Up!

Review: Capital One Spark Miles Vs. Capital One Spark Miles Select

If you’re a fan of Capital One Venture cards, you’ll probably like Capital One Spark Miles cards, too!

Capital One Spark Miles cards earn flexible miles that you can use on nearly any travel purchase, like flights, hotels, rental cars, and Lyft.

Establish Credit History and Boost Your Credit Score With This No Annual Fee Card

It’s difficult to get approved for most popular miles & points cards without an excellent credit score, or if you have a blemish on your credit report.  That’s why folks sometimes ask if there’s a good card to help build a credit history.

Besides making you eligible for better rewards cards in the future, establishing a credit history helps if you’re looking to qualify for other types of credit, like car loans and mortgages.

I think the no annual fee Capital One® Platinum Credit Card is a great fit for folks new to the US, recent graduates, or if your credit score is ~650.  But this card is NOT ideal if you’re looking to earn rewards, like cash back or miles & points.

I’ll share tips if you’re new to applying for credit cards.  And my review of the Capital One Platinum card.

Review: Capital One Venture Card Vs. Capital One VentureOne

Y’all know how much I love getting Big Travel with Small Money by collecting airline miles and hotel points.  But sometimes there are blackout dates around my travel times.  Or there aren’t available award seats or nights on the dates I want.

If you prefer the flexibility of booking flights, rooms, and other travel whenever you want, the Capital One® Venture® and Capital One® VentureOne® cards are a better option than credit cards like the Chase United Explorer or Hilton Honors™ Surpass® Card from American Express, which earn miles & points that you can only use if there are available award seats or nights.

The Capital One VentureOne comes with 20,000 Venture miles (worth $200 in travel) after spending $1,000 on purchases within the first 3 months.  And the Capital One Venture card offers 40,000 Venture miles (worth $400 in travel) after spending $3,000 on purchases within the first 3 months.

If You Book a Las Vegas Show Through Your Hotel, It Should Code as a Travel Purchase, Which You Can Erase With Venture Miles!

I’ll show you what I like about the Capital One Venture cards.  But why folks new to miles & points might do better with different cards.
