1.   Fidelity Visa Signature to Replace Existing Cards

Via @airhotelcards, if you have a Fidelity AMEX, Visa, or MasterCard credit card, you’ll be receiving a new Fidelity Visa Signature card by July 22, 2016.

If you currently have the Fidelity AMEX, you’ll be losing some benefits with the change to Visa including AMEX Offers and the ability to load your AMEX Serve account.

But you will gain Visa Signature perks with the new card.  And starting June 20, 2016, you’ll also be able to earn 2% cash back at Costco when they begin accepting Visa in-store.

Rumor: AMEX to Make It Easier to Earn Same-Card Sign-Up Bonus Twice

Via Reddit, the rumor mill is blowing unsourced news that American Express will be scrapping its current policy to disallow you from earning the sign-up bonus on a card if you’ve ever had the card before.

I’m selective about the unsubstantiated buzz I post because it sometimes turns out to be incorrect!

In this case I’m writing about it because it makes sense that AMEX would relax their strict policy based on what else has been happening with them.

Rumor AMEX To Make It Easier To Earn Same Card Sign Up Bonus Twice

If the Rumor Is True, Folks Who Closed Cards Like the Premier Rewards Gold and Starwood AMEX Would Be Eligible to Earn the Sign-Up Bonus Again. That’d Make It Easier to Get Free Stays at Places Like the St. Regis Princeville Resort

Also, I want it to be true so very, very badly! 🙂

Million Mile Secrets reader, John, commented:

Do you have a view on whether purchase protection (and other similar benefits such as car rental insurance, warranty extension, etc.) is significantly different on American Express cards versus the Chase Sapphire Preferred?  I have an easier time using Chase Ultimate Rewards points than AMEX Membership Rewards points.

Great question, John!

We talk a lot about how you can earn Big Travel with American Express cards and the Chase Sapphire Preferred card.  But they also come with insurance that can cover your purchases, belongings, and travel plans when things go wrong.

Reminder: Barclaycard Arrival Plus Starts Changing November 17, 2015

Update:   One or more card offers in this post are no longer available.  Check our Hot Deals for the latest offers.

Earlier this year, Barclaycard announced changes to the Barclaycard Arrival Plus card.  From that date, more restrictive redemption rules took effect for new cardholders.

But if you were an existing cardholder, you could still redeem Barclaycard Arrival miles under the old rules for a limited time, depending on when you applied for your card.

Folks who got their Barclaycard Arrival Plus World Elite Mastercard prior to September 30, 2014 will switch to the new rules on November 17, 2015.

So there’s not much time left to use your Barclaycard Arrival miles under the old system.  Beyond that date, it will be harder to use your miles!

However, check your mail!  Because some folks are getting an extension of the previous benefits.
