Best Way to Book JetBlue Business Class: AMEX Business Platinum Pay With Points

JetBlue offers a terrific Business Class called Mint.  You get lie-flat seats, tasty food, and terrific amenities.  And depending on the Mint seat you choose, you can even get an individual suite with extra privacy.

Mint is only available on select JetBlue routes.  But there are lots of new Mint routes planned!

The challenge is getting a Mint seat using points.  Unless there’s a seat sale, it’s usually NOT a good deal to redeem JetBlue points for a seat in Mint Business Class.

But now you can use AMEX Membership Rewards points linked to The Enhanced Business Platinum® Card from American Express OPEN card to get 50% of your points back when you book JetBlue Mint Business Class tickets.  This can be a good deal!

Is the British Airways Travel Together Ticket a Good Deal?

Million Mile Secrets reader, CB, emailed:

I have over 120,000 British Airways Avios points from spending $30,000 on the Chase British Airways card.  And I’ll soon get the Travel Together Ticket.

I want to fly myself and a companion from the East Coast to Europe in Business Class.  I’ve priced 1 round-trip ticket at 120,000 British Airways Avios points, plus exorbitant taxes and fees – up to $1,200.  My travel companion will fly “free,” but pay the same taxes and fees.

I obviously should not spend $2,400 and 120,000 British Airways Avios points for these flights, right?  Could we buy 2 tickets with another airline for less than $2,400?  Should I use my British Airways Avios miles on a partner airline and forget the Travel Together Ticket?

Thanks for the question, CB!

British Airways is infamous for tacking on steep fuel surcharges when you fly them across the Atlantic.  I usually recommend folks fly on partner airlines, like American Airlines or Air Berlin.

But, you can only use a British Airways Travel Together Ticket on British Airways flights.  And it’s very unlikely you’ll find 2 round-trip Business Class tickets to Europe for ~$2,400.  So this could be a good option for flying British Airways in Business (or First) Class!

New Cheaper United Airlines Coach Fares – Are They a Good Deal?

United Airlines has introduced a new, cheaper fare class that will soon be available for purchase.

Via View From the Wing, United Airlines will begin selling their new “Basic Economy” fare in January 2017, for travel beginning around April 2017.  This new fare will come with a whole list of restrictions, including NO large carry-ons, seat selection, or elite qualifying miles.

I love it when airlines lower their prices, but not at the expense of basics like my carry-on bag or choice of seat.  That said, this could be a good deal for folks who just want the cheapest price.
