Southwest has released another sale!  You can book Southwest flights from just $39, or 1,620 Southwest points one-way!

Other, more expensive routes are great deals too.  Like a one-way flight from Atlanta to San Antonio for $94 (or 1,620 Southwest points).

But you’ll need to book by June 15, 2017, for travel between August 22, 2017, and December 16, 2017.  Eligible travel dates vary by route.

Southwest is having sale!  Fares start at $39 one-way.  But most fares are higher.

For example, you can fly one-way from Amarillo to Las Vegas for $100, Fort Lauderdale to Belize for $140, or Los Angeles to Cancun for only $145.

Here are the details:

  • Tickets must be purchased by June 15, 2017, at 11:59 pm in the respective time zone of the departure city
  • Fares valid only on non-stop service
  • Travel must be between August 22, 2017, and December 16, 2017
  • Domestic travel is not valid on Fridays and Sundays
  • Tickets are non-refundable

Note:   There are blackout dates and restrictions on certain routes, so make sure you take a look at your travel dates before you book!

If you’ve already booked Southwest flights, check this sale to make sure your flights aren’t available for cheaper.  If they are, just cancel your Southwest flight for free and re-book with the better price.

Million Mile Secrets Loves Southwest!

Emily and I like Southwest sales because when the cash price of a ticket goes down, award ticket prices go down, too.  That’s because Southwest award prices are tied to the cash price.

Every passenger also gets 2 free checked bags.  And that can save you a lot of money!  Plus, if you have the Southwest Companion Pass, a friend or family member flies with you for free for up to 2 years!

Remember, you can transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points at a 1:1 ratio to Southwest if you have the:

So it’s easy to earn points if you need more points for an award flight!  But remember, points transferred from Chase Ultimate Rewards to Southwest do NOT count toward the Companion Pass.

However, the points you earn from Chase’s 3 Southwest co-branded credit cards DO count towards the Southwest Companion Pass:

These cards have limited-time increased offers, so it’s easier than ever to earn the Southwest Companion Pass!

Note:   If you’ve opened 5+ credit cards in the past 24 months (with the exception of certain small business cards), you will likely NOT be approved for any of these Chase cards.

Hotel Information

If you book a sale flight, remember there are lots of ways to get cheap or free hotel rooms with points from credit card bonuses and spending.

To find hotels that can be booked with points, I use Hotel Hustle (which even shows you if rooms are actually available!) or AwardMapper.

Remember, you can transfer flexible points like Chase Ultimate Rewards or American Express Membership Rewards to different hotel programs.

Note:  If you prefer to book paid stays, check out discount sites like Orbitz, Expedia, or TravelPony for deals.  But remember you won’t get stay credits or points (and might not have your elite status recognized!).
