Through June 30, 2017, you’ll get 35% off when you purchase (or gift!) Starwood points.

You can usually buy Starwood points for 3.5 cents each.  With this deal, if you buy at least 5,000 Starwood points to get the 35% discount, you’ll pay ~2.3 cents per point.

You can buy Starwood points in increments of 500 points, but you must purchase at least 5,000 points to take advantage of this deal.  And you can purchase up to 30,000 Starwood points per account, per calendar year.  Just remember, purchased points do NOT count towards elite status.

Is This a Good Deal?

This could definitely be worth it for some!

1.   High-End Starwood, Marriott, or Ritz-Carlton Stay

For example, you can convert the Starwood points to Marriott or Ritz-Carlton points at a 1:3 ratio.  So if you buy 30,000 Starwood points for ~$683 with this deal, you’ll have 90,000 Marriott or Ritz-Carlton points (30,000 Starwood points X 3).

You Can Save Hundreds of Dollars When You Take Advantage of This Starwood Buy Points Promotion for Stays at Certain High-End Hotels, Like the Ritz-Carlton Bal Harbour, Miami

That’s more than enough Marriott points for a stay at a Tier 5 Ritz-Carlton hotel, like the The Ritz-Carlton Bal Harbour, Miami, that costs 70,000 points per night.  Nights here can easily cost ~$850+!

As always, do the math to see what makes sense for you.

2.   Transfer Points to Airlines

You could purchase Starwood points to transfer to one of Starwood’s partner airlines.

For example, with the 35% savings, you’ll pay $455 for 20,000 Starwood points.  Plus, you can get a 5,000 mile bonus when transferring all the points to a Starwood airline partner with a 1:1 transfer ratio.

25,000 miles (20,000 + 5,000) is enough for a round-trip coach ticket within the US on airlines like American Airlines and Delta.  So if $455 is LESS than the cash price you’d pay for a ticket, this deal would make sense!

3.   Save on Your Next Stay at Starwood Hotels

Of course, you can also redeem points for a fantastic stay at Starwood hotels.

Bottom Line

Through June 30, 2017, you can save 35% off Starwood points purchases of 5,000+ points.

The 35% off savings can be a good deal for folks wanting more miles with one of Starwood’s airline transfer partners.  Or if you have a specific Starwood, Marriott, or Ritz-Carlton hotel stay in mind.
