  1. I have over 110k Chase UR points. Anyway to transfer those to a hotel and then transfer to Southwest to get the companion pass?

  2. Hello,

I actually checked numerous other sites including the Points Guy and they said that Southwest has changed their policy to make it so that hotel points converted to Rapid Rewards do not count towards the companion pass as of 1/1/17. Are you sure that this is still something that we can take advantage of until March 31? I’ve been reading a lot of conflicting info.

  3. Yes, they initially said 1/117 but because they had given no notice, they changed it to March 31. I did it a week ago and have my companion pass after transferring the 100,000 points I needed to get the pass. You have 9 days.

  4. Can you use the Marriott points deal of getting the 7 nights (at 1-5 hotel) plus 120,000 Southwest Rapid Rewards for 270,000 Marriott points, then, later, before the 7 night stay, cancel the hotel stay and have 150,000 Marriott points put back into the account, thereby ultimately getting the 120,000 Southwest Rapid Reward points for 120,000 Marriott points?

    • Nope, you cannot get the 150k points back. You must use your 7-night certificate. If you need more time, Marriott Customer Service is willing to extend an extra year to use the certificate, but it indeed must be used.

  5. I bought choice points today. Will they get posted to my account in time for me to transfer them to southwest?

  6. I combined SPG & Marriott points to exchange for TWO COMPANION PASSES. 1st time in 2016 (end 2017) for husband. I was going to wait until 2018 to get mine, but golly, had to rush this deal since it was ending. Seriously is the BEST deal in travel!

We used 1st certificates for 7 nights in Renaissance Curacao (before it changed to Cat 6 this March, WHEW!).

I’m more excited about this 2nd certificate — we’ll be redeeming it for 7 nights @ the brand new, amazing JW MARRIOTT PHU QUOC ISLAND Resort & Spa (Vietnam), plus using my extra 2 free certificates for a total of 9 nights. I accidentally found the awesome Category 5 JW when Marriott announced category changes. One night @ goes for $500 USD!!!

I basically exchanged 270k points ($1,890 value, which I got for free) for $7,100 of travel ($3,500 JW Marriott & $3,600 SW companion pass). Plus another $1K value if you count the additional 2 free nights certificates I have. 😀
