Choice Hotels is offering another status match opportunity!

If you have elite status with another hotel chain, like Hyatt, Marriott, Starwood, or Hilton, Choice Hotels will match your status (up to Platinum elite status).  And requesting a match is easy!

And while Choice isn’t usually known for its fancy hotels, they’ve got locations just about everywhere.  And award nights are a particularly good deal in Europe.

Choice Hotels Status Match 2017

Choice Hotels Are Everywhere, so Even If You Don’t Have a Choice Hotel Stay Planned, This Status Match Could Come in Handy!

I’ll tell you what you need to know about this deal.

Choice is again giving folks the opportunity to earn elite status by showing proof of elite status with another hotel brand.

This is similar to the deal they offered last spring, except this time, both US and Canadian residents are eligible.

Here are the details:

  • Only folks in the US and Canada are eligible to have their status matched
  • The highest elite status match will be to Choice Platinum
  • You will only get 1 status match per lifetime
  • Status match is valid ONLY for the current year if you match between January and June.  If you match between July and December, it will be good for the current year AND the following year

Match Your Status up to Choice Platinum, Which Gets You Bonus Points on Stays, an Extended Award Booking Window, and Perks at Certain Choice Brands

So you’ll get the most value if you match your elite status in July.  That said, there’s no expiration listed for this offer, so I don’t know how long it will last.

How to Apply for a Match

Applying is simple, and takes just a couple of minutes.  Send an email to [email protected] with the following information:

  • Your full name
  • Your Choice Privileges number
  • Either a photo of your membership card (showing the expiration date) of the hotel loyalty program you’re matching, OR a screenshot of your current account statement with the hotel loyalty program you’re matching

Choice will contact you within 7 to 9 business days, and let you know when they’ve matched your status.

Remember, if you have credit cards from certain chains, you’ve already got automatic elite status!  So it’s a no-brainer to apply for a match.

Is Choice Elite Status Worth It?

While Choice hotels aren’t typically known for luxury, they do have some great hotels around the world, like the Comfort Hotel Bolivar in Rome, Italy.  Plus, you can usually find Choice hotels in smaller cities and towns, so they’re a super convenient option.

Stay at Charming European Hotels Like the Comfort Hotel Bolivar, Near the Colosseum in Rome, Italy

Even if you don’t normally stay at Choice Hotels, this match might be useful.  You never know when you might end up in a Choice hotel, even if it’s not in your plans.

And if you book Choice hotel award nights, the extended booking window you’ll get with elite status makes it easier to plan travel.

Plus, other chains offer to match folks’ elite status every now and then, so Choice elite status could be useful for future status matches to other hotels.

Here’s what you can expect if your status is matched:

1.   Choice Gold

Without a status match, you’d need to stay 10 nights per calendar year (including award nights) to get Choice Gold status.

  • 10% point bonus
  • You can book award nights 50 days in advance
  • Exclusive reservations and customer service phone numbers
  • Choose 250 bonus points or a snack and beverage at check-in for stays at US Comfort Suites hotels

2.   Choice Platinum

Normally, you’d need to stay 20 nights per calendar year (including award nights) to earn Choice Platinum status.

  • 25% elite point bonus
  • You can book award nights 75 days in advance
  • Exclusive reservations and customer services phone numbers
  • Elite luggage tags (US members only)
  • Choose 250 bonus points or a snack and beverage at check-in for stays at US Comfort Suites hotels

Bottom Line

You can earn Choice hotel elite status by matching elite status from another hotel brand, like Starwood or Hyatt.  But only up to Choice Platinum status.

Choice elite status isn’t terribly exciting, but it could still come in handy!  And the process takes just a couple of minutes.

Let me know if you apply for a match and what status you get!
