Need more Wyndham points?  The normal offer for the no-annual-fee version of the Barclaycard Wyndham Rewards card is 18,000 Wyndham points after meeting minimum spending requirements.

But if you make a test booking on the Wyndham website, you’ll see an offer for 15,000 Wyndham points after meeting minimum spending requirements.  Plus a $50 statement credit when you spend a total of $2,000 on purchases in the same timeframe.

In some cases, this could be a better deal, even though you’re earning fewer bonus points.  But you shouldn’t consider these offers if you’re new to miles and points.

Emily and I don’t earn anything from the Barclaycard Wyndham Rewards card, but we’ll always share new deals with our readers!

15,000 Wyndham Points Is Enough for a Free Night at Almost ANY Wyndham Hotel. Like the Otherwise Expensive Silverado Resort & Spa in Napa Valley!

I’ll help you decide whether the 15,000 point (plus a statement credit!) offer on the no-annual-fee Barclaycard Wyndham card makes sense for you.

Bonus Points and $50 Statement Credit With Barclaycard Wyndham Rewards

Normally, with the no-annual-fee Barclaycard Wyndham Rewards card, you’ll earn 15,000 Wyndham points after your first purchase, plus 3,000 Wyndham points after you spend $1,000 on purchases in the first 90 days of opening your account (18,000 points total).  And get perks like bonus Wyndham points on certain purchases and automatic Gold status.

But when you make a test booking on the Wyndham website and click through to a room rate, you’ll see an offer for for 15,000 Wyndham points after you spend $1,000 on purchases in the first 90 days of opening your account.  Plus a $50 statement credit when you spend a total of $2,000 on purchases in the same timeframe.

You’ll Find a Different Offer for the No-Annual-Fee Barclaycard Wyndham Card When You Make a Test Booking

So you’ll earn 3,000 fewer Wyndham points with the test booking offer.  But you’ll gain a $50 statement credit after meeting minimum spending requirements.

Is This a Better Deal?

As always, I suggest doing the math to see what makes sense for you.

For example, suppose you wanted to stay a night at the Days Inn San Diego/Downtown/Convention Center.  The cash & points rate is 3,000 Wyndham points + $85.  Or ~$101 per night if you paid all cash.  Meaning your 3,000 Wyndham points are worth ~$16 (~$101 paid rate – $85 cash co-pay).

In that case, getting a $50 statement credit is a better deal than extra 3,000 Wyndham points!

Planning a Stay at a Less Expensive Wyndham Hotel, Like the Days Inn San Diego/Downtown/Convention Center? This Deal Might Make Sense for You

But if you use your Wyndham points for award nights at pricey locations where the room rate is $250+, 3,000 points is worth $50 or more.

For example, I found a night at the Dolce Silverado Resort and Spa in May 2017 for ~$451 or 15,000 Wyndham points.  So you’re getting a value of ~3 cents per point (~$451 / 15,000 points).

At that rate, 3,000 extra Wyndham points are worth ~$90 (~3 cents per point X 3,000)!  And you’d be better off with the 18,000 Wyndham point sign-up bonus versus the 15,000 point sign-up bonus with the $50 statement credit.

Just remember, I do NOT recommend this card for folks new to miles & points.  Because it will count against Chase’s 5/24 rule.  Where if you’ve opened ~5+ cards from any bank (except these business cards) in the past 24 months, it’s unlikely you’ll be approved for most Chase cards.

And Chase has some of the best rewards cards available!

But if you do decide to book a night at a Wyndham hotel, don’t forget folks who are targeted can earn 3X Wyndham points for stays through May 25, 2017.

Bottom Line

When you make a test booking on Wyndham’s website, you’ll find an offer for the no-annual-fee version of the Barclaycard Wyndham Rewards card where you can earn 15,000 Wyndham points and a $50 statement credit after meeting minimum spending requirements.

This is different from the normal 18,000 Wyndham point offer for this card.

Depending on how you plan to use your points, this deal might be worth it.  But do the math to see what makes sense for you!  And if you’re new to miles and points, there are better offers to consider.

We don’t earn a commission on this card.  But we’ll always tell you about every deal we find!
