A few days ago I told you about a cheap way to buy British Airways Avios points by signing-up for a Match.com or eHarmony account.
But now, via One Mile at a Time, lots of folks are having complications with this method!
I’ll tell you what we know so far!
What’s Up With the British Airways and Match.com and eHarmony Deal?
Some are only receiving about half the bonus British Airways Avios points they expected to receive. Others are getting membership cancellation notices from Match.com. And some folks are being refused a refund!!
This is NOT right. But this isn’t the first time we’ve seen companies change their minds after publishing a great deal. This is the reason I always recommend folks take a screenshot of each deal, so there is always proof!
What Can You Do?
If you have NOT received a cancellation notice, it’s easy to file a claim for missing British Airways Avios points. Just go to this page and sign-in to your British Airways account. You can then enter your order’s details, write a description of your problem, and upload your screenshots or receipts.
And if you aren’t getting a refund on your membership order, you should be able to contact each website directly with screenshots to dispute their action. Or file a complaint with your credit card company.
Match.com and eHarmony both pride themselves on their trustworthiness and integrity of their site. And that could very well be the reason they don’t want a bunch of folks signing-up for their services who aren’t interested in improving that community.
If that’s the case, they should NOT have offered 130+ British Airways Avios points per $1 to join! They severely underestimated what folks will do to get Big Travel with Small Money!
Match.com and eHarmony are having a hard time parting with the British Airways Avios points they promised folks who signed-up for their sites through the British Airways shopping portal! Some folks are getting fewer British Airways Avios points, and some are getting membership cancellation notices!
These dating websites are not making a good first impression on folks in the miles & points community! Broken promises and betrayal are not the key elements I’d look for in a dating website. 😉
Did you participate in this deal? If so, did you get a membership cancellation and refund, or did you receive your British Airways Avios points? I’d love some more data points!
