Through March 5, 2017, you can earn 150 British Airways Avios points for every $1 you spend on Match.com and 130 British Airways Avios points per $1 spent on eHarmony, through the British Airways shopping portal.

Both dating sites have different subscription options.  To get the most points, you should buy the most expensive package.

How to Earn the Most Points

The terms of the deal say the offer is valid for first-time paid Match.com subscriptions only.  For eHarmony, there doesn’t appear to be the same restriction.

First, go to the Match.com offer on the British Airways shopping portal and click the “Shop Now” button. You’ll be asked for your British Airways frequent flyer account information.

I Always Suggest Taking Screen Shots When You’re Taking Advantage of Deals Like These!

The most expensive plan on Match.com is a 12-month “Basic” plan for ~$17 per month.  Plus, you have the option to pay for “add-ons” like the ability to talk and text without sharing your phone number, know when your emails are read, and more.

If your goal is to earn as many bonus British Airways Avios points as possible, you’ll want to buy all of these add-ons, to maximize the amount you’re spending on the site.

To Maximize the Number of Bonus British Airways Avios Points You’ll Earn, Purchase All of the Add-Ons Offered With Your Membership!

If you buy the 12-month “Basic” membership with all of the add-ons, you’ll pay $548.57.

And you’ll earn 82,285 British Airways Avios points with this deal ($548.57 X 150 points per $1).  So you’re effectively paying ~0.67 cents per point ($548.57 / 82,285 points).

This a 76% discount compared to purchasing points directly from British Airways, which typically sell for ~2.8 cents per point!  That’s an incredible deal!

And you can do the same with an eHarmony plan.  There, you can get a 12-month plan for $251.40, which would earn you 32,682 ($251.40 X 130) British Airways Avios points.  So you’d be paying ~0.77 cents per point ($251.40 / 32,682 points).

Just remember, you’re purchasing a subscription.  So be sure to cancel or turn off auto-renew before they charge your card again.

Note:   You’ll have to spend a few minutes filling out basic profile information.  But it’s worth it to earn British Airways Avios points so cheaply!

Is This a Good Deal?

This offer could be worthwhile for lots of folks, especially if you have a specific redemption in mind.  Remember, British Airways has a distance-based award chart.  So the number of points you’ll pay depends on the length of your flight.

With 82,285 British Airways Avios points from the Match.com deal, you’ll have enough points to book 10 one-way short-haul coach flights within the US, which cost 7,500 British Airways Avios points each.

You Can Book Short-Haul, Round-Trip Award Flights to Seattle & Other Destinations With British Airways Avios Points on Partner Airlines Like American Airlines & Alaska Airlines

Or, you could fly yourself and 2 friends (maybe even your new date! 😉 round-trip in coach to Hawaii from the West Coast on Alaska Airlines or American Airlines for free.  Because it will cost 25,000 British Airways Avios points for each ticket.

Three tickets to Hawaii would certainly cost more than the ~$549 you’d spend to “buy” the British Airways Avios points you’d need through the Match.com deal.

82,285 British Airways Avios points is even enough for 3 round-trip coach tickets on Aer Lingus to Ireland, with points to spare!  From cities like Chicago, New York, Washington, DC, and more, it’s just 26,000 British Airways Avios points round-trip in coach in the off-peak season.

One of my favorite things about British Airways Avios points is they’re easy to earn and use!

You can earn British Airways points directly from flying on British Airways or their partner airlines, or from the sign-up bonus and spending on the Chase British Airways Visa Signature Card.

Or transfer points from flexible points programs, like American Express Membership Rewards, Chase Ultimate Rewards, or Starwood Preferred Guest.

Bottom Line

Through the British Airways shopping portal, you’ll earn 150 British Airways Avios points per $1 you spend on a Match.com subscription, or 130 British Airways Avios points per $1 spent at eHarmony.

The deal is good through March 5, 2017.

For ~$549, you can purchase a 12-month subscription with add-ons at Match.com, which gets you 82,285 British Airways Avios points.  That’s more than enough for 10 short-haul one-way flights on partner airlines like American Airlines.  Or 3 round-trip coach tickets from the West Coast to Hawaii!

Let me know if you take part in the deal, and even better, if you meet the love of your life!  😉

  1. Do fractions of a dollar count though? If they don’t, then, for example, in the screenshot from match, that would be minus $6/mo which = 10,800 miles less over the year.

  2. I have trouble logging in after registering. It says that my account has been blocked. No idea why… anyone?

  3. re: Rachel.

It’s a one-time payment made all at once so fractions don’t matter here.

  4. Do you think it’s possible to acquire points by purchasing a membership for a friend?

  5. Match does auto renewal and they do not remind you of that or that your subscription is nearly up. They require you to cancel IN ADVANCE, once they bill you again you will NOT get your money back.

Also, I’ve personally found BA Avios nearly impossible to use. It sounds like an incredible program but in reality it’s crazy hard. You can only book on partner airlines where there is a seat at the lowest mileage level.

    • Aer Lingus and Iberia are good options. I was able to find availability for the exact date and time I wanted on Aer Lingus for a last minute DUB-BOS flight (there was availability on the other 2 flights that day too). $70 in taxes vs. $860, I’m happy.

One thing to keep in mind is if you are trying to book too far in advance, it may appear that there is no availability because it’s released on a rolling schedule.

  6. Match.com link is not working anymore. This is the error received below.

“Invalid Publisher Code, Offer, or Publisher – Advertiser Partnership Status”

  7. Don’t do it. Others on Lucky’s blog are reporting that ba is only paying points on the subscription and not the add ons…….

  8. How do you find award tickets to Hawaii on BA website? I tried but it seemed like there is no availability at all.

  9. Hi Darius,

I love your site! This question is a little off topic, so I apologize.

A couple of weeks ago I used the SWA shopping portal to make a fairly expensive purchase, but the item is not what I need and has to be returned. Will I lose the points I earned by using the shopping portal when I return the item?

    Thanks!
