The bonus amount is targeted. So log-in to your United Airlines account to see your offer! Because this deal could definitely make sense if you’re targeted for a big bonus and need more United Airlines miles for a particular trip.
I’ll show you how to check for your targeted offer. And help you decide whether buying miles with this promotion makes sense for you.
Earn a Bonus on United Airlines Miles Purchases
Log-in to your United Airlines account to see how many bonus miles you’ll get for buying United Airlines miles through April 20, 2017.
The bonuses are tiered, so the more miles you buy the bigger bonus you’ll earn. Folks have reported being targeted for bonuses from 50% to 80%.
Million Mile Secrets team member Jasmin was targeted to earn up to a 75% bonus.
To qualify for the deal, you must purchase at least 5,000 miles. Just remember, it may take up to 48 hours for the miles to post. And purchased miles do NOT count towards Elite status.
And don’t forget, you can only purchase 150,000 miles per account per calendar year. And the bonus miles DO count towards the 150,000 mile yearly maximum.
Is It Worth It?
If you have a certain trip in mind and need more United Airlines miles to top off your account, this could be a great chance to do so. But as always, I suggest doing the math to see what makes sense for you.
For example, if you were targeted to get an 80% bonus, you could buy 34,000 United Airlines miles and get a bonus of 27,200 miles (80% X 34,000 miles). For a total of 61,200 United Airlines miles (34,000 miles + 27,200 miles).
With this deal, 61,200 United Airlines miles would cost ~$1,279 including taxes and fees. But that’s more than enough for a one-way Business Class ticket from the US to Europe.
So if you’re looking for a ticket across the pond and it costs more than ~$1,279, it would make sense to buy miles with through this offer! As long as you’ve found award seats of course. 😉
Plus, United Airlines has had better promotions in the past, so if you don’t need the miles right now, it might be a good idea to wait.
Through April 20, 2017, you can get up to an 80% bonus when you buy United Airlines miles. The actual bonus amount is targeted. But the more miles you buy, the more bonus miles you’ll earn.
This deal could make sense for some, especially if you need more United Airlines miles for a specific trip. Or if buying miles for an award ticket costs less than the cash price of a ticket.
As always, do the math to make sure you get the best deal!
