Earn Bonus United Airlines Miles When You Buy Miles Through December 19, 2016

Here’s more about this deal!

Get a Bonus When Buying United Airlines Miles

Link:   Buy United Airlines Miles Promotion

Through December 19, 2016, you can earn up to a 100% bonus when you buy United Airlines miles with United Airlines’ latest promotion.

You must purchase miles in increments of 1,000.  But the minimum and maximum amount of miles you can purchase, along with what bonus you’ll get, varies depending on your targeted offer.

Million Mile Secrets team member Jasmin was targeted to earn up to 50% bonus miles, with a maximum purchase of 100,000 United Airlines miles:

  • 25% bonus when you buy between 5,000 and 9,000 United Airlines miles
  • 35% bonus when you buy between 10,000 and 19,000 United Airlines miles
  • 50% bonus when you buy between 20,000 and 100,000 United Airlines miles

And while team member Meghan was targeted for up to 75% bonus miles, she can only purchase a maximum of 85,000 United Airlines miles through this deal:

  • 25% bonus when you buy between 5,000 and 9,000 United Airlines miles
  • 50% bonus when you buy between 10,000 and 19,000 United Airlines miles
  • 75% bonus when you buy between 20,000 and 85,000 United Airlines miles

Just keep in mind, United Airlines miles expire in 18 months, unless there’s activity in your account.  So if you purchase miles, be sure you have a reason to use them.

And you’re limited to purchasing 150,000 United Airlines miles per account every calendar year.

Note:  Purchased miles do NOT count toward United Airlines elite status.  And because the purchase is processed by Points.com, it does not code as a travel or airline transaction (so it won’t earn bonus points in those categories).

Is This a Good Deal?

United Airlines miles usually cost ~3.76 cents each, so you’ll definitely pay less per mile with this deal.  But it probably doesn’t make sense for coach flights.  Unless it’s a last minute ticket that is very expensive!

Because you’ll need 25,000 United Airlines miles for a round-trip coach ticket within the US.

With a 50% bonus on a purchase of 17,000 United Airlines miles, for example, you’ll pay ~$640 (including taxes).  For a total of 25,500 United Airlines miles (17,000 miles + 50% bonus).  And the majority of round-trip coach tickets within the US cost LESS than ~$640!

But this deal might be good for folks looking to book Business Class award flights on United Airlines or their airline partners.  Or if you need to top-off your account for a specific award ticket.

Visit Sydney Like I Did, and Save Money on Business Class Flights by Buying United Airlines Miles With This Deal

Let’s say you want to fly Business Class from the US to Australia.  You’ll need 80,000 United Airlines miles to fly one-way on United Airlines’ partner airline, Asiana, to Sydney.

With this deal, if you’ve been targeted to earn a maximum 75% bonus, you could buy 50,000 United Airlines miles and get a 37,500 mile bonus for ~$1,881.  And have more than enough miles for an award ticket!

That same ticket can cost ~$5,380+ if you paid cash.  So buying miles with this deal would save you thousands of dollars!

More Ways to Earn United Airlines Miles

Need more United Airlines miles?  You can instantly transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points at a 1:1 ratio from cards like the Chase Sapphire Reserve, Sapphire Preferred, and Ink Business Preferred.

Bottom Line

Through December 19, 2016, you can earn up to a 100% bonus when you purchase United Airlines miles.

The probably isn’t a good deal for folks looking to fly coach.  But could make sense if you want to book an otherwise expensive Business Class flight.  Or if you’re just shy of the miles needed for an award ticket!

And don’t forget, there are lots of other ways to earn United Airlines miles, like credit card sign-up bonuses or by transferring Chase Ultimate Rewards points at a 1:1 ratio.
