The busiest travel season of the year is approaching!  I’ve often written the best use of miles & points is for making memories with your loved ones, especially folks you might not otherwise get to see often.

And there’s nothing quite like coming home to family and friends.  Those you haven’t seen in a long time.  Or maybe just folks you can’t bear to be away from for very long!  😉

I was touched by Heathrow Airport’s new holiday video, and I hope you like it, too.

Perhaps the Best Use for Miles & Points: Visiting Your Loved Ones, No Matter How Far

I travel a lot, and something I almost never have is someone waiting for me in the arrivals hall.  Either I’m off adventuring far away, or I’m traveling for work!

But coming home for the holidays is different.

I enjoy hanging around a while to observe other folks arrive and join their loved ones.  It’s a very emotional and uplifting atmosphere.  And it makes me realize that everybody is special to somebody.

The child crying in the seat behind me is special to an eager grandmother waiting at Point B.  And so is the elderly gentleman standing on the “walk” side of the moving walkway.

As we plan our holiday trips, I’d love for us to be courteous and respectful to everyone.  Our common ground is a love of travel and a desire to be with the important people in our lives.

And a little kindness can ease the stress of a crowded terminal, delayed flight, or long journey.

Bottom Line

Holiday travel can be chaotic and frustrating!  Let miles & points take you to the ones who are special to you!

And treat others as you’d want them to treat the folks excitedly waiting for you beyond the terminal!

Happy travels, everyone!

  1. Thank you Daraius! And to you too wherever you are off to! Our family is flying from Knoxville to Boston to have Thanksgiving at my cousin’s. We are meeting my daughter who just took a job there, and my parents who are coming from South FL. Of course, we are flying SW out of Nashville using the companion pass, flew my parents up by transferring points to Jet Blue, and staying at a new Residence Inn on points. All from what I’ve learned from you. Safe travels!
