Folks on Reddit are reporting they’ve been able to apply for the Chase Sapphire Reserve with its incredible 100,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards point bonus at Chase branches today (Sunday).

Those of y’all who live near a Chase branch and are anxious to apply can use the Chase branch locator to see if there’s a branch open today.

Unfortunately most branches are NOT open on Sunday or they are already closed.  Although I noticed branches in San Francisco’s Chinatown are still open.

But I also have disheartening news.

Are You Eligible for the Best Card Offer Ever?

It’s been tougher to be approved for most Chase cards if you’ve opened ~5+ cards from any bank (except these business cards) in the past 24 months.  This includes all Chase cards that earn Chase Ultimate Rewards points.  This has been dubbed the “5/24” rule.

And from what people on Reddit who have already applied are saying, it seems very likely the Chase Sapphire Reserve bonus is also blocked for those of us who have enjoyed opening 5+ cards in the past in 24 months.

It’s not surprising.  But we were hoping this wouldn’t be the case!

Reported exceptions to the rule so far are:
  • You are a Chase Private Client
  • You go to a Chase branch are they let you know you are pre-approved for the Chase Sapphire Reserve

There’s still no application link yet, but the Chase Sapphire Reserve benefits guide IS online for us to drool over.  🙂

I’ll let you know if anything changes about who can get the Chase Sapphire Reserve bonus.  And I’ll post when the Chase Sapphire Reserve application is online!

Or you can walk into your local branch on Monday.
