If you have more than 1 Citi ThankYou account, you might want to combine them.
Because the redemption value you get for airfare, hotels, cruises, and car rentals booked through the Citi ThankYou portal will depend on which credit card your Citi ThankYou points are linked to.
For example, you’ll get 1.25 cents per point for points linked to your Citi ThankYou Premier card used to book hotels, cruises and car rentals. And you’ll get 1.33 cents per point on airfare when the points are linked to your Citi Prestige card.
Or combining accounts might give you the opportunity to transfer points from an old Citi card like the ThankYou Preferred to airline and hotel partners.
It’s also easier to manage your Citi ThankYou points when they’re in 1 account.
You can combine your accounts by calling Citi or by logging-in online.
I’ll show you how!
How to Combine Your Citi ThankYou Points

I recommend calling Citi at 800-842-6596 to combine your ThankYou accounts. It only takes a few minutes and will avoid any errors you get trying to do it yourself online.
If you prefer to try online, here are the steps to combine your accounts.
1. Sign-In to the Citi ThankYou Website
First login to the Citi ThankYou site and click “Combine My ThankYou Member Accounts”.
2. Add a New Account
Next, you’ll see a summary of the Citi accounts that are linked to your current ThankYou account. Then, click to add a new account.
3. Enter Account Information
You’ll have the option to enter your existing Citi account number. Or, you can enter the ThankYou account number associated with the existing account.
Note: You can only add your own Citi accounts. For example, you can NOT combine family member Citi accounts.
Many folks, including myself, receive an error when trying to add an account. That’s why I recommend calling to combine your accounts to save time and frustration.
After you combine accounts online or by phone, you’ll receive an e-mail from Citi indicating your ThankYou points will credit into 1 account.
Now, it will be easier to manage your ThankYou points!
Use ThankYou Points for Big Travel

Citi ThankYou points are great because you can transfer them to airline and hotel partners for Big Travel if you have the Citi Prestige, Citi ThankYou Premier, or Citi Chairman (no longer available) card. For example, you can transfer to:
- Flying Blue points for discount awards to Europe
- Hilton for award night stays
- Singapore Airlines for award flights to Hawaii on United Airlines
- Virgin Atlantic for award flights to Hawaii on Hawaiian Airlines
You can also transfer points to take advantage of promotions like occasional transfer bonuses.
Or, you can use your Citi ThankYou points to book flights through the Citi portal. And if you have the Citi Prestige, you’ll get 1.6 cents per point when you book American Airlines and partner flights and 1.33 cents per point for all other flights.
For example, a round-trip American Airlines flight between Los Angeles and New York in August costs ~$437 if you paid cash. But, you could use 27,325 ThankYou points instead and get 1.6 cents per point.
Booking American Airlines flights through Citi ThankYou portal makes the current Citi Prestige 40,000 ThankYou point sign-up bonus worth $640!
Keep in mind starting July 23, 2017, your Citi ThankYou points from your Citi Prestige will be worth 1.25 cents each for bookings made through the Citi travel portal no matter which airlines you fly.
If you earn ThankYou points on other cards like the ThankYou Premier, you can still get the benefit of get 1.6 cents per point when you book American Airlines flights by combining ThankYou accounts.
And there are no blackout dates when you book this way. So you don’t have to worry about finding award seats. Plus, you’ll earn miles for the flight.
