When you sign-up for IHG’s Accelerate promotion, you’ll get a customized deal with a number of tasks you can complete to earn more IHG points for future IHG hotel stays.

IHG hotels include Candlewood SuitesCrowne Plaza, EVEN Hotels, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Club Vacations, Holiday Inn Express, Holiday Inn Resorts, Hotel IndigoIntercontinental Hotels & Resorts, and Staybridge Suites brand hotels.

The tasks and total number of bonus IHG points you can earn depend on how often you stay with IHG, your elite status, and other factors.

Just remember, you must book your hotels stays for this promotion directly through IHG.  Bookings made through 3rd-party sites like Orbitz will NOT count.  And certain discount and group rates do NOT qualify.

Million Mile Secrets team member Meghan is not an IHG elite member and has no recent IHG stays.  She was offered up to 33,500 bonus IHG points for completing 5 tasks through the promotion:

Downloading and Signing-In to the IHG App Is a Quick Way to Earn an Extra 500 IHG Points!

Her first task is to download and sign-in to the IHG app, which is easy enough for 500 IHG points.

But to earn the full bonus, Meghan would have to stay 9+ nights at certain IHG hotels.  So this isn’t a great deal, unless she already has plans for lots of IHG stays anyways.

Other folks have reported being targeted to earn nearly 80,000 bonus IHG points with the IHG Accelerate promotion.  So register your IHG account to see your offer, and decide whether it makes sense for you!

Is This a Good Deal?

It’s a good idea to sign-up, even if you don’t have any IHG hotel stays planned.  Because it only takes a few minutes to register, and you never know when a travel opportunity might come up!

But whether or not it’s worth staying at an IHG hotel just to earn the bonus points depends on your offer.

Plus, there are lots of other easy ways to earn IHG points.  Like using the Cash & Points trick to buy points.

You can also apply for the Chase IHG card to earn 60,000 IHG points after meeting minimum spending requirements, plus a $50 statement credit after your first purchase.

Use the Sign-Up Bonus From the Chase IHG Card to Splurge on a Night at the InterContinental Paris – Le Grand

Here’s my my review of the Chase IHG card.

You can also transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points to IHG at a 1:1 ratio.  From cards that earn Chase Ultimate Rewards like the Chase Sapphire Preferred, Ink Plus (no longer available), or Ink Bold (no longer available).

And if you have any 1 of those cards, you can also transfer the Chase Ultimate Rewards points you earn with cards like the Chase Freedom, Freedom Unlimited, and Ink Cash, to IHG.

Although you’ll usually save more money by transferring Chase Ultimate Rewards points to partners like Hyatt and United Airlines.  But it could be worth it for the PointBreaks list!

Bottom Line

You can earn bonus IHG points for completing tasks including stays at IHG hotels with IHG’s latest Accelerate promotion.  The deal is valid for stays booked directly with IHG between September 6, 2016, and December 15, 2016.

Everyone’s offer will be slightly different, so register to see how many bonus IHG points you can earn!

Depending on your personalized offer, it may or may not make sense for you to switch your upcoming hotel stays.  But because it only takes a few minutes, it’s worth signing-up even if you don’t have any trips planned.

  1. I just signed up. I’m a Spire member. My offer was 143,000.

  2. Just pointing out — these offers are stackable, so Meghan’s offers can actually all be achieved by a total of 3 nights. 2 stays which are at 2 different holiday inn hotels, both of which are booked with my rate, and one of which is 2 weekend nights. 3 nights, 33,500 bonus points. still only ~$60 worth of points per paid night, which isn’t a slam dunk, but a heck of a lot better than what you describe.

  3. So are there offers stackable? eg can I book a 3-nite weekend stay (earning 2000 pt), and earn (at the same time) an additional 2000 pt for that 3-nite stay?? Or do I only earn 1 bonus per stay?

  4. Scott,

My past experience has been that you get multiple bonuses for one stay provided they meet the terms and conditions of each offer. For e.g. if you have an offer of stay once and get 2k points and also stay once in Sept and get 2k points, then one stay in Sept should give you 4k points.

  5. I received an identical offer to Meghan. This week I did stay 3 nights (@5000 points) at a local Holiday Inn. Nice hotel, except the WIFI was a real PIA.

  6. Hubby and I got identical offers – 46,600
    3,000 Stay Once Get 3,000
10,000 Stay 5 night(s) and earn 10,000 bonus points. (not happening)
3,600 Earn 3,600 bonus points when you book 1 Bonus Points Package stay(s) and get to your next reward faster.
1,500 Book and pay for one stay with your IHG® Rewards Club Credit Card and earn bonus points.
23,500 Complete 3 of the 4 offers and earn (an additional) 23,500 bonus points.
5,000 Stay once in September and get 5,000 bonus points.

Question: Can I book a room for Hubby on my account for the bonus to count? Do I have to be with him if I get him a AU card on my IHG cc? I need to book a couple of nights for him in September when he helps our son move in Colorado. He could one night on his acct (using his IHG cc) and one on mine (using my IHG cc). We’d each get 36,600 pts

  7. It says this promotion is only available to members located in Europe, Africa, Middle East, Asia, and Greater China.

  8. Do Points & Dollars nights count as stays?
