How to Book It

You can check the WOW Air calendar to see cities and dates.  Or see my posts for how to use Google Flights and ITA Matrix to find sale dates.  Then book directly on the WOW Air website.

For example, I found a $99 one-way fare from Washington, DC, to Stockholm, Sweden, on November 20, 2016.

There are other deals too, including $119 fares to Reykjavik and $149 fares to Frankfurt, Paris, and Copenhagen.  So take a look to see if anything interests you! Note:   If you receive an error message after clicking on the WOW Air calendar, try clicking on the More great deals!” box at the bottom of the calendar, and searching for your cities from that page.

WOW Air Tips

Link:   My Review of WOW Air

I’ve written about WOW Air, a budget airline based in Iceland.  They’re a great option for no-frills flights.  Their planes tend to be new, and the service onboard is good.

Remember, WOW Air charges fees for things like seat selection, large carry-on bags, and checked bags.  You’ll get the best deal if you can pack light.

And here’s my trip report from my visit to Iceland.  Don’t let any stereotypes you might have get in your way of a visit!

Get to a Departure City Cheaply or With Miles & Points

Folks with the Southwest Companion Pass could fly to these cities very cheaply.  That’s because with the Companion Pass, your companion flies with you for almost free on both paid and award tickets.

And if you’re under 1,150 miles non-stop, you can fly round-trip in coach for 15,000 British Airways Avios points on partner American Airlines.  You can transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points to British Airways at a 1:1 ratio.

If you’re less than 700 miles away, you can book an award flight with United Airlines for 10,000 United Airlines miles each way.  You can also use American Airlines miles for flights under 500 miles for 7,500 American Airlines miles each way.

As always, run the numbers and do what’s best for you!

Visiting Iceland?  Here’s What You Should Know!

Visiting Iceland was an incredible experience.  I met some of the nicest folks in the world there!

Where to Stay?

Best WesternClub Carlson, and Hilton have hotels in Reykjavik (although there are lots of independent hotels).

If you have the Citi Prestige card, check for hotel rooms available with the 4th night free perk.

If you’re going to Europe, check out my favorite HiltonHyattIHG, Marriott, Ritz-Carlton, and Starwood hotels in Europe!

I like using Hotel Hustle (which even shows you if rooms are available!) or AwardMapper to find hotels for award stays.

Check out my posts on all the ways to earn Hilton and Hyatt points!

You Can Earn Hilton Points From Their Credit Cards and These Award Programs
Note:  If you’re booking a paid stay, it’s worth checking discount sites like OrbitzExpedia, or TravelPony for deals.  Keep in mind, you won’t get stay credits or points (and might not have your elite status recognized).

If you prefer a more local experience, Airbnb is a great way to save money, especially for longer stays.  Here are my tips for getting a better Airbnb price and how to find a safe and comfortable Airbnb.

Bottom Line

You can book cheap flights to Iceland and Europe starting at $99 1-way with WOW Air, departing from cities including Baltimore and New York.

Pay $99 one-way to Stockholm, Sweden.  And $119 one-way to Reykjavik, Iceland.  But there are other deals too, so make sure you take a look if you’re interested!

Travel dates are for November 2016 to March 2017.  Let me know if you buy a ticket!
