Folks on Reddit and FlyerTalk are saying the new card will be an upgraded version of the Chase Sapphire Preferred card.  There are rumors it’ll be called the Chase Sapphire Reserve or Chase Sapphire Elite.  And that it’ll be open to sign-ups on August 21, 2016.

Perks are expected to be similar to the AMEX Platinum and Citi Prestige.  This new Chase card will have an annual fee of ~$300 or ~$400, which is similar to premium cards from other banks.

This could be a great time for Chase to offer a new card with extra benefits following the announcement of negative changes to the Citi Prestige.

There’s no word yet if card applications will be impacted by Chase’s stricter application rules.

If you’ve opened ~5 or more credit cards from any bank (excluding certain business cards) in the past 24 months, it’s unlikely you’ll be approved for most Chase cards.

I’ll be sure to update y’all when I find out more!
