Chase Southwest cardholders, check your email! Via Reddit, there’s a targeted offer to earn 2X Southwest points at restaurants when you register and dine between July 15, 2016, and September 30, 2016.
You’ll earn 2 Southwest points per $1 you spend on up to $2,500 in restaurant purchases within that timeframe.
This could be a good deal if you’re trying to earn extra points towards the Southwest Companion Pass. But there are other cards that currently earn more at restaurants.
I’ll show you how to make the most of this promotion. And suggest better options if you have certain cards!
Targeted 2X Southwest Points at Restaurants
When you activate the offer, you’ll earn 2X Southwest points at restaurants from July 15, 2016, to September 30, 2016, on up to $2,500 in spending.
So if you spent the maximum, you’d earn 5,000 Southwest points. That’s worth up to ~$70 in Southwest airfare.
Stack This Deal With Southwest Rapid Rewards Dining
Active members earn an additional 3 Southwest points per $1 at participating restaurants when they use their registered card.
And if you haven’t yet signed-up for Rapid Rewards Dining, you can earn 500 bonus Southwest points. Register and spend $25+ at a participating restaurant in the first 30 days of joining, then complete an online review withing 30 days of the dine to earn the bonus.
Note: Bonus points do NOT count towards the Southwest Companion Pass.

Remember, if you have the Chase Freedom, you’ll:
Earn 5% cash back on up to $1,500 in combined purchases in bonus categories each quarter you activate. Enjoy new 5% categories every 3 months like gas stations, restaurants, and wholesale clubs. Unlimited 1% cash back on all other purchases.
And this quarter, through September 30, 2016, the 5% bonus category includes restaurants and wholesale clubs. But remember to activate the bonus!
If you spent the maximum ($1,500) this quarter, you’d earn $75 (7,500 Chase Ultimate Rewards points).
And if you also have the Chase Sapphire Preferred, Chase Ink Plus, or Chase Ink Bold (no longer available) card, you can move Chase Ultimate Rewards points earned from the Chase Freedom to any of those accounts.
Remember, there are other cards that earn bonus points or cash back at restaurants. And don’t forget to use a card that doesn’t add foreign transaction fees if you’re traveling abroad!
