Via One Mile at a Time, Chase IHG cardmembers can get a 15% discount on the cash portion of a Cash & Points booking. The discount applies to reservations made by August 7, 2016, for stays through September 30, 2016.
That’s a decent savings, especially if you already have IHG stays planned. But the better news is you can use the promotion to “buy” IHG points for less, for stays even after the promotion ends!
I’ll show you how!
IHG Cardmembers Save More With a New IHG Promotion
This is a nice discount for cardmembers! But I’m more excited about the opportunity to stack this promotion with the Cash & Points Trick to save even more when you buy IHG points!
Note: The Venetian and The Palazzo hotels are excluded from the promotion.
Use This Promotion to “Buy” IHG Points for Less!
For example, you can book a room with Points & Cash at the Holiday Inn Express : San Diego Airport-Old Town for 20,000 IHG points plus $99. This room normally costs 35,000 IHG points.
So, using the Points & Cash Trick, you’re essentially buying 15,000 IHG points (35,000 – 20,000 IHG points) for $99. Or for 0.66 cents per point.
During this promotion, you’ll get 15% off the $99 cost of the cash portion of the booking. For a total of ~$84. So in effect, you’re buying those same 15,000 IHG points for ~$84, or ~0.56 cents per point.
But if you cancel your booking, you won’t get a refund on the cash portion. Instead, you’ll get to keep the points.
And you can use those discounted IHG points for stays after the actual promotion ends!
More About the Chase IHG Card
With the Chase IHG Rewards Club Card, you’ll:
Earn 60,000 bonus points after you spend $1,000 on purchases in the first 3 months of account opening.
And another 5,000 IHG points after adding an authorized user and making a purchase within the first 3 months of account opening.
This isn’t the highest sign-up bonus offered for the card, but you might consider applying because the most valuable perk is the free night at ANY IHG hotel you’ll get each year on your card anniversary.
The $49 annual fee (waived the first year) is a bargain for a free night at any IHG hotel, which could be worth hundreds of dollars. That’s why I keep it in my wallet! 🙂
Through August 7, 2016, Chase IHG cardmembers can save 15% on the cash price of a Points & Cash booking for stays through September 30, 2016.
A 15% discount is good, but the best part is that you can use it along with the Cash & Points Trick to buy IHG points for only ~0.56 cents per point. When they normally cost up to 1.35 cents each!
