Submit Your Status Match

There is no chart to see which status you’ll need to match to Hilton Diamond status.  The Hilton status match site lets you choose from several loyalty programs including Choice, Hyatt, IHG, Marriott, or Starwood.

Many folks report you can use your IHG Platinum Elite status to earn Hilton Diamond status.

And because IHG Platinum Elite status is automatic with the Chase IHG card, this can be an easy way to earn status with another hotel brand!

If you don’t have the Chase IHG card yet, it can take a few weeks for your account to reflect Platinum status.  You can call IHG after you get the card to speed up the status change.

Simply go to the Hilton status match site and enter your personal information and select IHG Platinum Elite as the loyalty program you’d like Hilton to match.

Lastly, upload proof of an IHG stay within the last 12 months.  But if you have NOT visited in that timeframe, don’t worry!

Folks on Reddit have reported you can submit proof of an upcoming stay.  So you can book a night with a refundable rate and then cancel after you submit your status match.  There are no promises this will work though!

Remember, you’ll need to submit your request by June 30, 2016, to get matched through March 31, 2018.

Other Benefits of the IHG Card

For folks considering the Chase IHG card, you’ll get great perks for Big Travel in addition to the ability to match Hilton status.

The sign-up bonus on the Chase IHG Rewards Club card is currently 70,000 IHG points after you meet minimum spending requirements.

  1. You shouldn’t push this card so hard right now given that the 80k bonus with only 1k spending and no aut. User requir. Promo comes around very often.

  2. Why wouldn’t this work with a Hyatt card?

  3. I am also curious if the chase Hyatt card would work as well?

  4. @Roy – If you want to try for Hilton Diamond status before this promotion ends, it might be worth it to pick up the Chase IHG card now. Because we don’t know when an increased sign-up bonus will appear.

Of course, if I hear anything about it, I’ll let you know!

@Avi @Drew – That might work! I’ve heard reports of folks being matched to either Hilton Gold OR Diamond through this promotion. But either status would be great to have!

If you try it, let me know how it goes!

  5. I did this last year and got Diamond status through March, 2017. Can I do this again now and get it extended to 2018?

  6. I submitted this about a month ago and never heard back from Hilton. Anyone having the same issue?

  7. I was able to match Hyatt Platinum received from a Chase United Presidential Plus card (no longer offered) to Hilton Diamond. I was hoping to get at least Gold, but was pleasantly surprised when Diamond showed up on my account. This will really help me out because I have some upcoming stays in markets where Hyatt does not have a presence. Your milage my vary, but it is worth a try if you already have Hyatt Platinum status.

  8. Any idea if it requires a paid stay or is an award stay fine too?

  9. @scott I don’t think so. I’m in the same boat. The link says I’ve already submitted my info. Hilton also said no dice in an email to me.

  10. Hi Daraius, I did that last week by sending in my IHG card info. How long shall I wait before I call Hilton to follow up ? I did get upgraded last year to Diamond Status thru Mar 2017 by doing exactly what you posted. Thank you so much !!!

  11. I just submitted for status match with IHG Platinum Elite. My stay within the past 12 months was 4 and 2/3rds reward nights (using my 70k IHG Chase bonus points earned a little over a year ago). I just picked up the Amex HHonors Surpass card with Gold status, but I’m going for Diamond now. Hope it works. FYI, my last two stays at Hilton never showed up on my HHonors account. I had to add a missing stay and provide receipt proof of stays. This despite being welcomed at the hotels as an Hhonors member upon check-in. A little disconcerting.

I want to Thank You. I followed your advice about the Hilton Diamond Match with my IHG credit card as soon as you tweeted on 5-16. I opened my email from Hilton Honors this morning with a Welcome To Diamond Status. I am so happy and looking forward to some really enjoyable Executive Lounge visits and room upgrades. You are the best!!!

  13. Update: I also received my Welcome To Diamond Status e-mail from Hhonors! I have a stay planned in early June at a DoubleTree to test it out.
