Each quarter, with its PointBreaks promotion, IHG slashes the points price on a number of their hotels around the world to 5,000 IHG points per night.

Using the IHG Points & Cash trick, these rooms are only ~$35!  Or ~$30 using this version of the trick.

The IHG PointBreaks List Doesn’t Have Many Exciting Deals This Time Around. But You Still Might Find Good Discounts, Like Using 5,000 Points to Explore Madrid

You could also use your IHG points earned from the Chase IHG card and their promotions.

Usually, there are some gems on the list that get sold out quickly.  This time around though, there are NOT many hotels on the list with mass appeal.  🙁

However, you still might find a roadside hotel or airport hotel in a location to save you money on an upcoming trip.

5,000 IHG Points Can Be a Great Deal

Check the IHG PointBreaks list!  You can save thousands of points if you want to stay at a discounted hotel.  Here are a few that could be worth booking at the lower rate:

1.   The Holiday Inn Express Madrid – Getafe is rated 4 stars on TripAdvisor.

Looking at the reviews, this might be a good place to stay while driving to Seville.  Or if you don’t mind driving into Madrid.  Rooms usually cost ~$60.  I also like that you get free breakfast!

2.   Rapid Travel Chai suggests Crowne Plaza Johannesburg – The Rosebankhaving stayed there previously.

3.   Mommy Points highlights Holiday Inn Plattsburgh (Adirondack Area), noting the destination is great for families in the summer, though she hasn’t stayed at this particular hotel.

You might also do well by booking an IHG hotel during a road trip.  Or if there’s a hotel near you in an area you want to explore over a weekend.

Let me know if you book a room on the IHG PointBreaks list…or if you have a recommendation for your fellow Million Mile Secrets readers!

  1. Some were already gone yesterday! You really have to be quick.

  2. @Lynn – Wow, good to know! Thank you!

  3. I ended up clicking on a local one to me for a staycation and was able to book myself in a whirlpool suite for an entire weekend for 10,000 points total. I believe it was a glitch that has since been fixed, but this one was the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Lake Zurich – Barrington (IL). As Lynn mentioned above, you have to be really quick when the list goes live, particularly if you want to snag a stay that has a Saturday included.

  4. Wondering if there is a way to get a head’s up before the list is posted. I always end up being late into this offer.

  5. Paul – I just follow Flyertalk.

  6. The point breaks went live on Monday. Many are gone
