Note:   Some Starwood hotels (especially resorts) add pricey resort fees to paid and award nights.  Before you book, check the hotel policy to decide if it’s worth it for you.  And here are my tips on how to avoid them!  I’ve noted in my examples which hotels add resort fees.

Note:   Starwood updated their hotel categories on March 1, 2016.  But some hotels have not been changed on their website yet.  So be sure to double-check!

  1. Quality of this site is dropping fast. Do we really need two posts in two days on how to use Starwood points?

  2. Because he is selling credit cards and getting commission for money money money

  3. I have been a regular reader for the past year and learnt a lot. There are repetitive content sometimes, but if you don’t like don’t visit the site. Stop complaining, unless you are from a competing site and want to see this one go down.

  4. I just wanna point out that Westin Maui Resort & Spa, Ka’anapali is a Category 6 hotel, instead of Category 5.

  5. Quality of some readers is dropping fast. Two ignorant people above actually whine about free info and about others working for a living.

  6. @Kevin, spoken like a true nimrod. I’ve supported this website far more than you with affiliate referrals. If the quality of a product goes down, I guess we shouldn’t compain, right? Mental midget.

  7. @kevin – You’re right! It recently changed category. Thanks for the catch, I’ve updated the post.

  8. Very interesting to know my response to BB is somehow deleted …

  9. Ugh Several of you sound like a couple of five year olds…if you don’t like the site and question the quality and content, then Please just stay off….

  10. Thanks for the recent posts about Starwood ideas. Because the 35,000 point bonus is soon expiring, it reminds us to get the card while we can, which my partner did yesterday, through your link. Great to learn we can merge accounts. Looking for a one week special stay at a category 5-7 SPG property Including using 5th night free. Thanks!

  11. While I’ve learned so much from MMS, used the affiliate links, I do agree with James about repetive content. Once is enough, twice a bit much, and often by the third time, I’ve moved on to my next email. Other than the writing style of annoying repetition, MMS has been wonderful!
