Folks on Reddit report you can earn bonus miles when you sign-up for Barron’s or the Wall Street Journal for only $1 through airline shopping portals.

Want Extra Miles? Purchase a Financial Magazine Subscription for $1!

You can earn:

Folks also report you can cancel your subscription after the 12-week subscription period ends and still earn the miles.  That should be enough time for the bonus miles to post.

Even with the $12 subscription for 1,100 Southwest points, you’ll come out ahead.  1,100 Southwest points are worth between ~$16 and ~$19 toward Southwest flights.  And almost double that if you have the Southwest Companion Pass.

And, you’ll get 3 months of financial news for nearly nothing.  Sounds like a good deal to me! 🙂

3.   Fly to London in Business Class for $1,300 Round-Trip, or Paris for $1,600 Round-Trip

If you want to plan a trip to London or Paris, you can get a great deal on La Compagnie’s all-Business Class flights!

Fly to London for $1,300 Round-Trip, or to Paris for $1,600 Round-Trip in Business Class With La Compagnie From New York (Newark)!

Book round-trip flights from Newark to London in Business Class for $1,300 by February 29, 2016.  And round-trip flights from Newark to Paris for $1,600 round-trip!

The Paris flights didn’t have an end date.  But I’d book sooner rather than later to be on the safe side!

I found flights in June, at the beginning of the busy tourist season for the promotional rates from Newark to both London and Paris for sale!

Keep in mind these flights will NOT earn you miles or points.  And La Compagnie only operates 1 flight each way per day.  So if you have any delays or cancellations, there can be a long wait to get help.

That said, this is a fantastic deal to fly to Europe in comfort this summer!

4.   WOW Air Wants to Add 1 More US Route to Iceland

Link:   USA Today Interview With WOW Air CEO

In an interview with USA Today, WOW Air’s CEO said:

We expect to announce at least one more destination in 2016.  Certainly there will be a lot more in 2017 and going forward.

This is exciting news for folks who like to visit Europe for cheap!

It comes on the heels of new routes from California and frequent fares for $99 1-way from Baltimore and Boston.

New cheap flights and more options are always welcome!  I had a good experience flying WOW Air to Iceland.  And found Icelanders were much kinder than I expected!

Budget airlines are also a fantastic way to see more of Europe.

Let me know which of these deals is your favorite!

  1. Its actually 1200 miles for Barrons on United as well

  2. seems the 1200 miles for United is if your’e a cardholder (just reading through the reddit comments).

Also it just got updated that also offers 1300 points for the WSJ subscription $1 for 12 weeks as well.

Tips for everyone just from reading thru the comments on reddit:

    1. You can use a mailing address SIMILAR to yours, so you don’t receive junk mail
    2. Use a fake e-mail address or one you don’t care that gets spammed
    3. leave out your phone # i believe its optional.
    4. you can cancel at any time, so once miles post I would recommend cancelling, and also setting some alarms/reminders on your phone.

  3. Do the southwest points count towards the companion pass ?

  4. I did the $1 for 12 week subscription to WSJ for 1300 AA miles in November. I got the miles by mid-December and canceled before the 12 weeks were up. The craziest thing, though, was that I never received a single issue of the WSJ. That actually made it easier to cancel, as I had a legitimate reason for not renewing a subscription to a newspaper I wasn’t getting, but I would have been pretty upset had I not been paying a promotional rate for it.

  5. @GC the same thing happened to me. I selected the online version and never received an issue. When I went to cancel, they said that the subscription never went thru so, there was nothing to cancel. lol. At any rate I will do the southwest for the 1100 and the Barron’s for the 1300.

  6. Every time I try to sign up, I get an error saying WSJ had a problem processing and to call customer service. :-\

  7. Never mind. Looks like credit card name needs to match subscriber name exactly. Form only asks for first and last name, but my card has middle name. I had to leave that out and match it with just the first and last name on the card info.

    Pretty nice score.

  8. I too signed up for Wall Street journal, I did get it and I believe 1200 united points. I canceled without problem, they even offered to continue online for free .

  9. Hi,

How are you guys getting $1 for 12 weeks?

I only see this from WSJ:
President’s day sale – Subscribe to WSJ for $1 per week for 12 weeks.|9150|1|1|search_box&gmid=1956

Are you canceling after 1 week? Is that how your getting $1 for the points?

  10. Actually, I think I’m too late:

I get this for AA and United.

Store Search Results1 Match Found for “barrons”
Barron’s does not currently participate in the program.

  11. I tried to find Barron’s on United and American’s portals and they both say Barron’s does not currently participate in the program. What gives?

  12. Not able to find Barron’s and WSJ on AA portal. Can someone send a link which works?

  13. wonder if you earn FF points for buying visa gift cards? I see STAPLES purchases earn 2 pt/$$

  14. Has anybody received the bonus miles from this promotion? (WSJ or Barrons)
